Rev. George R. Gaddie

Rev. George Ray Gaddie of Campbellsville, son of the late George Washington Gaddie and Mallie DeWeese Gaddie was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, August 31, 1916. He died at 8:53 P.M., Sunday, April 12, 2009, in Campbellsville. Age: 92
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church.
He made his profession of faith and was baptized at age fourteen at Friendship Baptist Church. He was ordained into the ministry by Friendship Baptist Church on June 28, 1942. He served several Baptist churches in Kentucky and Ohio including, Freyrsquo;s Creek, Mt. Roberts, Friendship(twice), Edmonton, Bradfordsville, Arbuckle, Mackville, Salem (three times), Cane Valley, Good Hope, and Yuma. He became an area missionary in Ohio in 1954 and started South Toledo Baptist Church in 1955 which was the first Southern Baptist Church in Toledo.
He was a graduate of Campbellsville Junior College, Georgetown Baptist College, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and was a former trustee of Campbellsville College.
He united in marriage to Shirley Brsquo;Hymer July 4, 1945. She preceded him in death
October 21, 1949.
He united in marriage to Wilma Lester November 21, 1951.
Besides his wife, Wilma Gaddie of Campbellsville, he is survived by two sons and two daughters: David Gaddie and Jane Wheatley of Campbellsville, Ray Gaddie of Port Charlotte, Florida and Becky Ford and husband, Van of Sandy Hook, Connecticut; four grandchildren: Ben (Jordan) Ford and Stephen Ford of Campbellsville, Jaclyn (Neil) Dabney of Mannsville and Landon Dickens of Nashville, Tennessee; six great-grandchildren: Zachary Ford, Desmond Ford, Zachary Boils and Devon Ford of Campbellsville, and Hayden Dabney and Noah Dabney of Mannsville; one sister, Mary Gilpin of Hodgenville; one sister-in-law, Blanche Gaddie of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers: Louise McCubbin, Lee Gaddie, and Herbert Gaddie.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Parrottamp; Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Dr. Skip Alexander, Dr. J. Chester Badgett, and Dr. Michael Carter

VISITATION: After 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, Apriil 14, 2009 at the Parrott amp; Ramey Funeral Home

BURIAL: Brookside Cemetery
