High Speed Pursuit ends in Green County
(Columbia, KY) – A multi jurisdictional pursuit that covered over 50 miles and reached speeds in excess of 100 MPH ended in Green County this morning with the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile at 12:40 AM CST. The juvenile, wanted in Ohio on felony robbery and assault charges, rammed and disabled a Lexington Police cruiser while the Lexington Division of Police were actively investigating a disturbance involving the juveniles sport utility vehicle.
The pursuit traveled out of Lexington on Versailles Road and into the Post 12 Richmond area on the Bluegrass Parkway before entering the Post 15 area in Washington County traveling south on KY 0555. The SUV made its way into Marion County on KY 0055 where the juvenile vehicle struck Tpr. Donnie Moses cruiser before heading west On US 0068 and into Taylor County. A tire deflation device was deployed east of Campbellsville but was unsuccessful in stopping the vehicle. As the pursuit entered Green County, Tpr. Moses used legal intervention to disable the SUV on US 0068.
The juvenile was involved in three vehicle collisions with law enforcement prior to the legal intervention and was transported to Jane Todd Crawford Hospital by Green County EMS for treatment of injuries. He was charged with Fleeing and Evading 1st degree, Reckless Driving, Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, Assault 3rd degree, Failure to Wear Seatbelt, Failure to Illuminate Headlights, No Operator’s License and Resisting Arrest.
