James Earl Lewis, Age 88
James Earl Lewis of Louisville, son of the late William N. Lewis and Zana Sizemore Lewis, was born September 15, 1921, in Hyden, Kentucky. He died at 2:40 P.M., Wednesday, September 8, 2010 in Louisville. Age: 88
He was a veteran of World War II having served his country honorably in the United States Navy.
He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky F. & A.M., the Thoroughbred Stein Collectors Association and the Kyana Geological Society, an avid sports fan and a loving and devoted husband.
He attended the University of Kentucky where he earned a B. S. in mining engineering.
He was the Chief Engineer for N.Y. Honduras Rosario Mining Company in Honduras and also for the United Fruit Company in Honduras and Guatemala.
He united in marriage to Barbara Buchanan September 26, 1964.
Besides his wife, Barbara Lewis of forty-six years, he is survived by two brothers, William N. Lewis, Jr. and wife, Kathleen of Hyden and Lew Daniel Lewis of Detroit, Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
