George Washington Cox, 93
Mr. George Washington Cox, age 93, of Raikes Hill road, died Monday at the Taylor Regional Hospital after an illness.
He was the son of the late Charlie “Blacksmith” and Ellen Cox. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Cox, two sons, Odell and Larry Cox, two brothers, Beckham and Hubert Cox, three sisters, Nettie Perkins, Flossie Edelen, and Geneva Warner, and one grandson, Benjamin Burton.
He is survived by four sons and spouses, Charles Edward and Montrey Cox, Darrell Ray Cox and Hilbert Cox all of Taylor County, and Gary and Allene Cox of Coburg, three daughters and spouses, Connie Sue Burton, and Carrie Cox and Steve Rafferty all of Campbellsville and Emma Ellen and Larry McDonald of Florida. Fifteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive along with his caregiver, Anna Faye Gribbins.
Funeral services for Mr. George Washington Cox will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 8, at the Merrimac Christian Church with burial in the Merrimac Cemetery. Brother Irvin Milby, Jr. officiating.
