Paul E. Smith, 79

Paul E. Smith of Campbellsville, son of the late Samuel Garnett Smith and Mary Rice Smith, was born March 19, 1931, in Springfleld, Illinois.  He died at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, October 14, 2010 in Campbellsville.    Age: 79

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Meadowview Baptist Church, where he had been a deacon and Sunday School teacher.  He was also a member of Gideon’s International and an Amateur Radio operator.

He was a retired employee of the U. S. Postal Service.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He united in marriage to Marina Brooke December 8, 1954 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Besides his wife, Marina Smith of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son and two daughters:  Debbie Fleming and fiancée, Andy Folena, Steve Smith and wife, Vicki and Sherri Rhodes and husband, Dean of Campbellsville; eight grandchildren:  Scott Burress of Louisville, Wendy Smith Bryant and husband, Robby and Nathan Rhodes and wife, Elisha of Campbellsville, Nicholas Rhodes of Lexington, Ben Smith and wife, Emily, Bryan Smith, Adam Smith and wife, Danielle, and Corey Smith of Campbellsville; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Smith of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lee Smith September 9, 1990; a grandson, Travis Lee Smith May 13, 1984 and a brother and two sisters:  Thomas Smith, Mildred Ruth Smith and Mable Louise Petrey.
