Tommy Dowell, 79
Tommy Dowell of Campbellsville, son of the late H. E. Dowell and Emma Speer Dowell, was born July 8, 1931 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 1:30 A.M., Thursday, November 4, 2010 in Campbellsville. Age: 79
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Kelleyville Community Church.
He was a graduate of Campbellsville High School Class of 1949.
He served in the Campbellsville 623rd Field Artillery Battalion of the Kentucky National Guard in Campbellsville, Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Korea in 1951-1952.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Army.
He was a retired professional tobacco auctioneer for many years; a successful farmer, real estate broker/auctioneer and businessman.
He was a member of the Honorable Order Of Kentucky Colonels.
He united in marriage to Sue Smythe November 11, 1959.
Besides his wife, Sue Dowell of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son and one daughter: Tom Dowell of Campbellsville and Debbie Richdale and husband, Brad of Laguna Beach, California; three grandchildren: Thomas Andrew Richdale of New York City, Derek Richdale of Point Loma, California and Rachael Dowell of Bowling Green; a sister and brother-in-law, Emilie and Veachel Antle of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Ernest Lee Dowell and James “Chunky” Dowell.
