Brief standoff results in self inflicted gunshot wound
(August 12, 2012 – 5:15am) The Campbellsville Police Department responded to 706 Cumberland Way Campbellsville to a report of a female subject at that residence armed with a handgun. When officers arrived at the residence they discovered Marlene Bell was armed and refused to comply with directives from officers to surrender her weapon and exit the residence. Officers were able to safely remove male subject from the residence. Bell continued standoff inside residence with police. At 6:02 a m, Bell contacted 911 reporting that she was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers gained entry to residence without incident. Bell was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital by CTEMS for treatment for non life threatening injuries. No charges have been filed at time of report. Investigation is ongoing by the Campbellsville Police Dept.
