Linda Fay Perkins Cox Jones, age 69 of Campbellsville, KY, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 11:50 A.M. at her home surrounded by her husband Michael W. Jones, her daughters, and a close friend.

She was born on April 12, 1944 to the late Riley and Pernie Perkins and grew up in rural Taylor County.  At the age of 15, she was united in marriage to her late husband Donald Cox.  Together they had four children, Donna Eastridge (Lenuel) of Marysville, OH, Teresa Walker (Terry) of Campbellsville, Michelle Foster (Corey) of Elizabethtown and Dwayne Cox of Campbellsville.  She was a member of God’s Friendship Chapel.

Over the years Linda worked many jobs including Fruit of the Loom and Osh Gosh.  She also loved working in sales.  Over the years she sold Avon, Jafra, Stanley, World Book Encyclopedia, cars for Green River Ford and worked at Floys.  But she was happiest helping people achieve healthy life styles with the help of gym chalk.  She enjoyed working at Beverly Hills Weight Loss Center and at Curves.  She loved getting to know the clients, and each client soon became a close personal friend.

In the late fall of 1992 she was diagnosed with primary pulmonary hypertension and put on a transplant list.  April 26, 1994 she received a new lung. Over the last 19 years she took full advantage of this gift of life.  After her transplant she became active in the Kentucky Organ Donor Association and spoke to groups and high schools on the importance of organ donation.  Some of her fondest memories were representing Kentucky in the transplant Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah and Columbus, OH where she won a bronze medal in badminton.  She also represented the United States in the world transplant games in Sydney, Australia where she won a gold medal in the softball throw.  In June 1996 she was awarded the Kentucky Colonel for her efforts and achievements in the Kentucky Organ Donor Association.

She was united in marriage to Michael Jones on June 17, 2012.  Even though they were married only 11 short months, they were filled with love, a shared faith in God, watching movies, playing games and gardening.

She is survived by her husband Michael, her four children and 9 grandchildren, Matthew Eastridge (Alecia) of Henrietta, OK; Megan McCreary (Justin) of Marysville, OH; Terri Ann Wicker (Cody) of Campbellsville; Traci Walker of Campbellsville; Makayla Cox of Campbellsville, Nathan Cox (Tori) of Clementsville; Zach Reynolds, Chloe and Zane Foster of Elizabethtown.  5 great-grandchildren, Graden, Addi and Jaid McCreary, Carmen Wicker and Dominic Cox.  Two step children and 10 step grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Mary Kay Cox of Campbellsville.  One brother Carol Perkins (Carol Ann) of Campbellsville, KY.  And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends and her constant companion Sophie.

She also was preceded in death by her first husband Donald Cox and an infant son, three sisters, Margaret Wilson, Dorothy Reed, Francis Hayes and two brothers, Klyde Perkins and James Lewis Perkins in infancy.
