James C. Ross

James C. Ross of Campbellsville, son of the late Chester Dare Ross and Ula Mae Addington Ross, was born in Ohio County, Kentucky, March 2, 1923.   He died at 5:40 A.M., Monday, December 16, 2013, in Campbellsville.     Age:   90

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church.

He was a veteran of World War II having served his country honorably in the United States Army and retired at the rank of major.

He was a life-time member of the Morrison Masonic Lodge No. 76 F & A M.

He was a retired soil conservationist with the United States Department of Agriculture.

He united in marriage to Fay Roeder December 24, 1948.   She preceded him in death October 16, 1986.

He is survived by one son and one daughter: Richard Ross and wife, Mary Lou Fay of Douglasville, Georgia and Donna Ross Carter and husband, Joe of Frankfort; six grandchildren:  Shannon Carpenter and husband, James of Louisville, Andrea Cummins and husband, Will of Frankfort, Faith Ann Ross Moffett of Douglasville, Georgia, Margaret-Ann Ross Melvin and husband, Alan of Townsend, Georgia, Steven Ross of   Arizona and Robert Ross of Cheyenne, Wyoming; seven great-grandchildren:  Travis Carpenter, Arianna Carpenter, Carter Cummins, Elise Moffett, Aidyn Woodruff,

Carol-Ann Melvin and James Melvin; special friend, Iva Jean DeWitt of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister:  Rayburn Ross and Agnes Coffman.

FUNERAL SERVICE:              10:00 A.M., Friday, December 20, 2013 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Dr. James Jones and Dr. Mike O’Neal, with full military honors

GRAVESIDE SERVICE:          12:00 Noon, C.S.T., Friday, December 20, 2013 at Central Grove Baptist Church Cemetery
