James “J.D.” Thompson, age 71

James “J.D.” Thompson, age 71, of Elk Horn died Saturday in Glasgow.

J.D., who was also commonly known as “Peachie” was born June 21, 1943 in Taylor County, KY to Lawrence and Bessie Fair Thompson.  He was a heavy equipment operator and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a member of Yuma Baptist Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Lisa Thompson Wade and brothers and sisters, Vernice Swallows, Irena Myers, Richard Thompson, Elwood Thompson and infants, Melburn and Vera Jane Thompson.

He is survived by his children, Rosetta (Larry) Stotts of Columbia, Cozetta Thompson of Campbellsville, Douglas Eugene Thompson of Danbury, North Carolina, Leo Thompson of Campbellsville, Michelle Sanders and her husband Jeff of Campbellsville and Gail Curry of Campbellsville; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Kay Thompson of Louisville and a special friend and caregiver, Thelma Thompson.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

The family request visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.
