Vernetta “Net” Turner Hendrickson, 85

Vernetta “Net” Turner Hendrickson, 85, of Campbellsville departed this life on, Friday, May 6, 2015.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Asure Lee Hendrickson.  She was the third child, born on the third day of the third month in 1930 to the late Owen Milburn and Mary B. Calhoun Turner.  She was born in Campbellsville, KY and was one of fourteen children.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, Owen William Turner and Paul Thomas Turner and four sisters, Bernice Richardson,Mary Simpson, Rosie Gaddie and Debra Turner.

Vernetta was a retired employee from the Fruit of the Loom Company.  Vernetta learned to play an old pump organ at the age of seven and started playing the piano at Pleasant Union at the age of 9.  She continued to play piano at Pleasant Union until she was 84 years old.  She played for the holiness churches, the Zion District Association and conventions for 27 years, the Twin District for 10 years.  She played at nearly every church in Campbellsville and surrounding counties.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Johnson and her husband, James of Campbellsville, a grandson, Corey Johnson; a granddaughter, Kennedy Johnson; three brothers, Ronnie Turner, of Campbellsville,  Tommie Turner of Louisville and Roderick Turner of North Carolina; five sisters, Betty Jean Graves and Carrie Grady, of Campbellsville and Wanda Cooper, Patricia Johnson and Virginia Brown, all of Louisville and a step-sister, Zannie Anderson of Campbellsville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 11th at the Pleasant Union Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family requests visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 10th at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home in Campbellsville.
