Albert Gene Laytart

Albert Gene Laytart, 77, of Elk Horn, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 4, 1938 in Cynthiana, Kentucky to the late William John and Alice Christine McNeese Laytart.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and later worked at the VA Administration Hospital in Lexington.  He married Eleanor Jean Isaac on December 31, 1957 and she preceded him in death on November 6, 2010.  They moved to Campbellsville in 1990 and Albert worked for Cox Interiors for nine years before retiring.  He was a member of the DAV and a lifetime member of American Legion Post 82.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother William “Red” Laytart and two great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Jonathan Dwight Laytart, Belinda Joe Richey, Christy Roach and her husband, Steve, and Rhonda Miller and her husband, Bruce, all of Cynthiana; Albert C. “Tracy” Laytart and his wife, Sharon, Mary Beth Huckaby and her husband, Bert and Robin Mendez and her husband, George, all of Campbellsville; twenty one grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; a brother and two sisters, Joe Allen Laytart and his wife, Pam, Charlotte Duckworth and her husband, Ernest “Cuttie”, and Annie Catherine Roberts, all of Cynthiana.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 21st at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Sister Anna Overstreet officiating.  Burial to follow at Lebanon National Cemetery with military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.  Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Joseph Utley, Mark Austin Fryman, Cody Travis Laytart, Steven Kenneth Roach, II, Nathan Smith-Laytart and Jason Nicoma Roach.  Honorary pallbearers will be Devin Keith Kiskaden, Ryan Badley Tobin, Dakota Laytart, Bruce Miller and Steve Roach.

The family requests that visitation be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 20th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home, Campbellsville.
