James C. Edelen, age 80
James C. Edelen, age 80, of Campbellsville, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at his residence following an illness.
James was born February 14, 1936 in Taylor County to the late Gus and Flossie Cox Edelen. On April 9, 1955 he united in marriage to Ethel Osborne who preceded him in death on February 11, 2009. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Julita Buckman; sisters, Claire Lee Hogan, Ruth Ann Cox and Opal Mae Decker and a brother, Mitchell Edelen.
Over the years he worked at Fruit of the Loom, Coca Cola Bottling Company and Western Auto before devoting full time to farming. He liked being a homebody, where he enjoyed guns, gardening and his dogs, especially his special friend, Clydedog.
He is survived by his children, Phillip Edelen, Mary Regina Shively and her husband Jeff, Joe Edelen and his wife, Lois, Tim Edelen and his wife, Glenda, Evelyn Edelen and Tommy Hayden and Kim Hayden and her husband, Steve, all of Taylor County; fifteen grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and sisters, Bernice Osborne of Louisville and Betty Hunt of Campbellsville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with burial at St. Francis DeSales Cemetery.
The family requests visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 29th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.
