frank riley 001Frank Riley of Taylorsville, was born May 21, 1945, in Caldwell County, Kentucky where he was raised by his loving parents, James and Katie, who preceded him in death. He died at 11:01 A.M., Thursday, August 4, 2016 in Shelbyville at the age of 71.
He professed faith in Christ and was a lifelong member of Stony Point Primitive Baptist Church.
Mr. Riley graduated from Fredonia High School in 1963. While in high school, he was selected to study advanced math at Murray State University. While a senior in high school, he was nominated to attend the Air Force Academy, but attended the University of Kentucky from which he graduated.
Mr. Riley’s first job subsequent to college was with Kentucky Utilities. He remained with that company for 33 years. He held positions in Elizabethtown, Danville and Campbellsville. He retired as the District Manager out of the Shelbyville office after a stellar career. After retirement, the Riley’s were able to spend much of their time in Florida where they made many new friends and developed new hobbies. As much as Mr. Riley enjoyed his time in Florida, it never replaced his love for the Bluegrass State and his passion to hunt the land and fish the lakes of his home state. He particularly appreciated the time spent raising his sons in Campbellsville. He passed on his love of being an outdoorsman to his children and grandchildren.
He met and married the love of his life while studying at the University of Kentucky. Mr. Riley and the former Connie Applegate of Lexington were married there on August 22, 1965. He was so happy to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary last year.
Besides his wife, Connie Riley of Taylorsville, he is survived by two sons who were the pride of his life: Frank Riley, II and wife, Robbie of Austin, Texas and Jamas Riley and wife, LeAnn of Campbellsville; also left to cherish his memory are four grandchildren who were the absolute joy of his life; Jacob and Lucas of Austin, Texas and Madeline and Noah of Campbellsville; sister, Rachel Huff and husband, Bill of Newburgh, Indiana; brother-in-law, Donald Allen Waits of Nicholasville; special friends and neighbors, Bruce and Pauline Lane of Taylorsville; many other relatives and friends.
