Charles Atwell, 71
Mr. Charles E. Atwell of Buffalo, son of the late Cecil and Myrtle (Underwood) Atwell, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at the Cedars of Lebanon Nursing and Rehab Center after a long battle with several illnesses. He was 71 years, 11 months, and 10 days of age when he was called home. Mr. Atwell was a former employee of the Parker-Kalon factory and the owner of Pioneer Cabinets. He was a talented woodworker and his handmade furniture and cabinetry will be cherished for generations. Mr. Atwell was a veteran and served his country honorably in the United States Army. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
He leaves to carry his legacy:
Two daughters: Dana Spencer and husband Marty of Campbellsville, and Kim Wayne of Lebanon,
Two brothers and two sisters: Josephine Caulk and husband Glen, Harold Atwell and wife Darlene, and JoAnn Sprowles and husband Foster, all of Campbellsville, and Danny Atwell and wife Christine of Buffalo,
Five grandchildren: Ethen Spencer and wife Ali, Meleah Spencer, and Breanna Spencer, all of Campbellsville, and Kristy Douglas and husband Jerriel, and Brandon Wayne, all of Lebanon,
Five great-grandchildren: Griffin Spencer, Shaylin Logan, Caleb Atwell, Braidyn Atwell, and Chanity Wayne,
One great-great grandchild: Docian Logan,
And a host of other family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Glen Atwell.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Atwell on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 1:00 PM EST in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718. Bro. Freddy Thompson and Bro. Danny Nelson will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Otter Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 700 South Otter Creek Rd, Buffalo, KY 42716 with full military honors being conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 25, from 5:00-8:00 PM EST.
