Dorothy “Dot” Parson, 87
Mrs. Dorothy Mae “Dot” Jenkins Parson of Campbellsville was born in Greensburg on February 25, 1930 to the late Lucian and Mayme (Bagby) McKinney. She departed this life on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab Center after an extended illness. She was 87 years, 11 months, and 29 days of age. Mrs. Parson professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She also attended the Faith Union Baptist Church with her husband, Wayne Parson, as often as her health allowed. She was a fierce Canasta player and a talented guitar player and pianist. She enjoyed staying active and danced as much as possible. Mrs. Parson was a former employee of the Fruit of the Loom factory in Campbellsville, and also worked in the laundry department at the Medco Nursing Home.
She leaves to mourn her passing:

Two daughters: Shelia Jenkins Perkins and husband Ralph of Green County, and Rita Jenkins Thompson and husband Roger D. of Larue County,
A stepdaughter: Kim Parson Thompson and husband Greg of Campbellsville,
Ten grandchildren: Brian Bradshaw, Carisa Bradshaw, Vanessa Underwood and husband Anthony, Jessica Bingham and husband Jason, Jeremy Holstin, Paige Cook and husband Daniel, Bailey Thompson, Tayler Thompson, Chloe Thompson, and Candace Thompson,
Five great-grandchildren,
And a host of other family and close friends.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Holstin; a stepson, Tim Parson; and a sister, Marie McKinney Paxton.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Parson on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM EST in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Randall Underwood will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery, 525 Temperance Rd, Greensburg, KY.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, February 25, after 5:00 PM EST.
