George P. Burress, age 66

George P. Burress, III age 66, of Campbellsville, died Tuesday, February 28th at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born April 12, 1950 in Oakland, California to the late George Patrick, II and Tonya Burress.  George was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran having served two tours of duty in Vietnam.  He operated a lawn care business and had worked at Batesville Casket and Fruit of the Loom.  He was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Temple.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Burress; three daughters and their husbands, Jennifer and Timmy Stumph, of Lebanon, Shelly and Andy Watson, of Horse Cave and Rachel and Adam Prince of Campbellsville and twelve grandchildren, Caleb, Jordan and Joshua Miller, Faith Ann, Johnny and Grace Sprowles and Annabelle, Josiah, Elisha, Joana and Billy Watson.  A grandson, Luca Ross Prince preceded him in death.

Funeral services for George Burress will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Campbellsville Baptist Temple with Bro. Jase Divens and Bro. B.C. Gillespie officiating.  Burial will follow in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Marion County Retired Veterans Honor Guard.

The family requests visitation at Campbellsville Baptist Temple from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday, March 4th.     Lyon-DeWitt Berry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations of sympathy  be made to Victory Baptist Press, and may be made at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.
