Alice Rosa Smith, age 78
Alice Rosa “Rosie” Smith, passed on Monday, July 17, 2017, at Signature Healthcare at North Hardin, Radcliff, KY.
Alice Rosa (Mattingly) Smith, was the daughter of the late Earl William Mattingly, Sr. & Alice Bertha (Spalding) Mattingly. Step Mother, Edith Ann (Darnell) Mattingly. Rose was born in Springfield, Kentucky on September 4, 1938. On October 11, 1957, she married Archie Vernon Smith, of Garrard County, KY. They were married for 35 years until his death on March 22, 1992. Before her illness Rose lived in Campbellsville. She was an active member at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Rose participated in many activities in her church and community. One of her passions was raising funds yearly with the America Cancer Society Relay For Life.
Rose was preceded in death by her two children, Billy (Cowboy) and Ricky Smith. Siblings; Mary Elizabeth (Marion) Thompson, George (Mose) Mattingly, Barbara (Kate) Mattingly, Earl Mattingly, Jr. and her family friend, Adrian Porter.

Siblings; Betty (Mattingly) Thornton, Louisville, KY, Joseph Mattingly, Sr., Frankfort, KY, John (Margaret) Mattingly, Lebanon, KY. Mary (Daugherty) Belle, Louisville, KY, Edith (Mike) Daugherty, Headley, Gravel Switch, KY, Nancy (Lance) Mattingly, Barnett, Amy and Catherine (Mattingly), Dotson of Lebanon, KY, Richard and Carl Mattingly of MO. Step Sisters; Carolyn Dotson, Danville, KY, Cornelia Belle and Ann Daugherty, of Lebanon, KY. Step Brother; Darryl (Sherry) Dotson, Campbellsville, KY. Special Sister-In-Laws; Phyllis and Candace Mattingly, 22 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 20th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help with burial to follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, KY. The family requests visitation from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.
