Johnnie Venters, 70

Mr. Johnnie Lee Venters of Campbellsville was born in McLeansboro, Illinois on November 3, 1948 to Thelma (Atteberry) and the late Clarence Hershel Venters. He departed this life on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the Louisville VA Medical Center being 70 years, 10 months, and 16 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Whites Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Venters had an unassuming demeanor and a kind and helpful spirit, and carried himself with an earned confidence. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, and retired after 20 years of service. When he wasn’t trying to help someone, he spent most of his free time in the woods or on the lake.

Seven children: Angela Heath and husband Chris of Florida, Lisa McCarthy of Nevada, Loretta Abrams and husband Dave of Jeffersonville, Beth Visconti of Mt. Sterling, Michael Spurlock-Venters and wife Heather of Mt. Sterling, Jeffrey Venters of Mt. Sterling, and Rachael Armitage and husband Dalton of Owingsville,

One brother: Bruce Venters and wife Shannon of Illinois,

Three sisters: Ann Poe and husband Steve of Illinois, Bonnie Venters of Arkansas, and Norma Venters of Illinois,

Eighteen grandchildren: Joe, Brandon, Tony, Ashlyn, Callum, Cameron, Zachary, Asa, Nathan, Skylar, Jasmine, Jyonna, Dominic, Jack, Michael, Jonathan, Lillie, and Baylor,

Eight great-grandchildren: Rhett, Paxon, Axle, Camdon, Lincoln, Keyloni, Kari, and Kendal,

And a host of other family and close friends.

He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, William Walter Venters , in 1954.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Venters on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 6:00 PM EST (5:00 PM CST) in the sanctuary of the Truth Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, 4607 Old Lebanon Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Dickie Rogers will be officiating. Mr. Venters had requested cremation, and those wishes will be accorded him after the funeral.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, Sept. 28, after 5:00 PM EST (4:00 PM CST).
