She grew up on a farm just outside of the city limits of Lancaster with her brother and two sisters. She excelled in math in school. She always enjoyed telling her family how she had to walk a mile to catch the bus.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
She enjoyed attending Sunday School and participating in church activities and often took vacation time to work in Vacation Bible School.
Lucy started her banking career in 1956 at Taylor County Bank after graduating from college. During this time, she met and married James E. Wayne. They were married in 1958 and had three children. She spent forty years working full-time and five years part time. She rarely missed a day of work and was an Executive Vice President of Financial Services.
She also spent many hours helping on the family farm. She raised a garden and canned many jars of beans and tomatoes and froze many bags of corn. She has always enjoyed sewing and crocheting and was an extreme perfectionist with her sewing. Lucy also truly enjoyed spending time with her five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She loved to show them new things and watch them learn to do things. She was quick to talk about them and show pictures.
Besides her husband, James E. Wayne of Campbellsville, she is survived by one son and one daughter: Randy Wayne and wife, Sharon of Campbellsville and Patti Price and husband, Randall of Suwanee, Georgia; five grandchildren: Daniel Wayne and wife, Hope and David Wayne and wife, Lindsay of Campbellsville, Ashley Cole and husband, Doug of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Amanda Welton and husband, Tyler of Thompson’s Station, Tennessee and Abigail Logan and husband, Trey of Atlanta, Georgia; eight great-grandchildren: Liam Cole, Lucas Cole, Canon Welton, Lucy May Wayne, Luke Wayne, Lyric Welton, Emma Welton and Adalyn Wayne; one brother and two sisters: Glen Watkins and wife, Sally and Linda Price and husband, Gerald of Lancaster and Geneva Broaddus and husband, Ernest of Hustonville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. She was also very fond of her granddog, Buster and said he understood everything she told him.

Lucy will be greatly missed but she will always be in our hearts and has given us great memories. We can rejoice that she is in Heaven today and finally relaxing and enjoying being with Jesus.
