William “Bill” Swafford, 85
Mr. William Paul “Bill” Swafford of Campbellsville was born in Taylor County on July 18, 1936 to the late Paul and Dollie (Kearney) Swafford. He departed this life on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at the Grandview Nursing and Rehab Center, being 85 years of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church. Mr. Swafford was a retired mechanic, having worked at Sam’s Goodyear over 45 years. Always outgoing, he rarely met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed watching NASCAR and dirt track races, or fishing and camping. He will also be remembered for his singing at church.
Besides his parents, Mr. Swafford was also preceded in death by his wife: Mrs. Frances (Bault) Swafford, a son-in-law: David Cable, and three siblings: Donald Ray Swafford, Wanda Shepherd, and Clyde Swafford.
He leaves to cherish his memory:
Three children: Debbie Swafford-Cable of Campbellsville, Eddie Swafford and companion Becky Cecil of Lebanon, and Kristie Campbell and husband Rex of Campbellsville,
Two brothers: Albert Swafford and wife Shelby of Tennessee, and Jimmy Swafford of Winchester,
Six grandchildren: Jason Cable and wife Cindy, Skyler Swafford, Emily Swafford, Ryan Swafford, Elizabeth Swafford, and Dustin Campbell,
Three great-grandchildren: Mariah, Syd, and Megan,
Four great-great grandchildren: KeKe, Za, Abell, and Shively,
A sister-in-law: Norma Jean Swafford of Campbellsville,
And a host of other family and close friends.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Swafford on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Burial will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 10, from 5:00-8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in the form of donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Gideon Bibles. Those can be made in person at the funeral home.
