John Thomas “Johnny” Richerson
John Thomas “Johnny” Richerson of Campbellsville, son of Wanda Sue Shipp Cox and the late Marion Robert Richerson, was born January 25, 1964 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died Wednesday, November 2, 2022 in Louisville. Age: 58
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Saloma Baptist Church but was attending Mt. Roberts Baptist Church. Johnny served his country honorably as an Aviation Operation Specialist in the United Army Reserve out of Fort Knox. He was awarded the Army Service Ribbon/Sharpshooter Badge (rifle) and the Expert Badge (grenade). Johnny was also a member of Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
He was former owner and operator of Dent & Ding Grocery, an auditor for Check For Check and a former employee of Batesville Casket Company and had been a delivery driver for Fastenal and most recently, L. Thorne.
He had many hobbies including gardening, picking flowers for his wife, Lisa and taking photos of sunrises. He liked all sports and cheered on the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. He was a diehard UK fan, enjoyed a game of golf when he was able and had coached girls’ softball at Trace Creek for years. He was known to get a little long-winded when telling a good story. Johnny loved fishing and playing kickball with his grandkids. His family will cherish the memories of playing board games, especially “Sorry” which he may have cheated at a little. He had a strong love for his family.
He united in marriage to Lisa Bell July 9, 1983. Besides his wife, Lisa Richerson of Campbellsville, Johnny is survived by three daughters: Miranda Sadler and husband, Jacob, Loren Fulkerson and husband, Brian, Jessalyn Read and husband, Jonathan of Campbellsville; six grandchildren: Reagan Read, Myleah Read, Addison Fulkerson, Collyn Fulkerson, Isaac Abell and Maylee Abell; his mother and step-father, Wanda and Jimmy Cox of Campbellsville; two brothers: Robert Leslie Richerson and wife, Lee and Terry Richerson and wife, Gaynelle of Campbellsville; two step-brothers and one step-sister: Butch Cox and wife, Ann and Loria Christie and husband, Jim of Campbellsville and Barry Cox and wife, Dee Dee of Florida; his mother-in-law, Pat Bell-Cash and her husband, Wendell of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, David Bell.
