Carter Lee Underwood

Carter Lee Underwood graced us with his sweet spirit for 18 years, then moved on to a better place on Saturday, March 9, 2024.

With eyes like oceans, Carter had his own ways of making deep connections. He was a good listener and he loved to share jokes.  He was always up for adventures, especially if it involved water.  Some of his best days were swimming with friends and fishing with Mimi and Pa, and riding ocean waves with his dad.

Carter was an accomplished artist and loved sharing beauty with others.  The artistic seed was planted by his Mamaw and watered by his caregivers and family, especially Renae Warner, Benita Jackie, Kenia Loeza, Ruth Ralph, and Ashley Perry. Last year, he presented three public exhibits and now has art on display in 8 states.

More than anything, Carter loved spending time with his family, friends, and special supporters.  Oliva Miller and Conner DeZarn were they best BFFs a boy could have.  Carter was loved by many and shared immense love in return.

Carter was the beloved son of Billy and MaryLee (Perry) Underwood of Lexington.  He was the grandson of Larry and Gail Underwood of Campbellsville; Dr. Larry Perry of Whitley City; and Margaret Lambdin (deceased) of Corbin, Kentucky.  He is survived by great-grandparents Flossie Perry and Dr. H.A. Perry of Whitley City, as well as step-great-grandmother Genell Newton of Campbellsville. He is survived by several aunts and uncles, Stephanie (and Joe) Raines of Corbin; and Melanie (and Mike) Casada of Whitley City.  He was also blessed to know many great-grandparents who preceded him in death: Helen Lambdin, Peggie Price, and Garnet Newton.

Funeral Service: 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home by Rev. J. Alvin Hardy with burial in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. Tuesday March 12th.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Build Inclusions or the Center for Courageous Kids (where Carter enjoyed many adventures).
