Thomas Smith, 82
Mr. Thomas Edward “Tom” Smith of Campbellsville, formerly of Arizona, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 18, 2024 at the Taylor Regional Hospital, having attained the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 11 days. He was born in Wilcox, Arizona on September 7, 1941 to the late O.T. and Marjorie (Potts) Smith, and was an entrepreneur by trade. He was a devout member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church while holding close his Catholic roots. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the United States Army and a proud supporter of the American Legion, and a graduate of Eastern Arizona College and Northern Arizona University. He had a dry sense of humor and loved to tease people, but was ever the gentleman. A man of many talents and interests, he especially enjoyed a round of golf and usually had a camera close to capture the moment.
He leaves to cherish his memory:
His wife of 41 years: Lula Raye (Carney) Smith,
Three children: Chris Carney and companion Ann Franklin of Campbellsville, Leann Moyers and husband T.J. of Arizona, and Andy Kaiser and wife Mary of California,
A sister: Ricki Huggins of Arizona,
Two sisters-in-law: Kay Krug and Cindy Williams,
Five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends in Arizona and Kentucky, including lifelong friends Gus (or, “Elvis”), Linda, and Rosie, and others too numerous to mention.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marta Lou Schultz and Rilla Cunningham.
There will be a memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Tom Smith on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM EDT in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. John Butler will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 23, after 12:00 PM EDT.
