Pamela Sue Hardy

Pamela Sue Hardy, daughter, sister, mother, “G,” was born on July 17, 1958, and passed away on January 4, 2025. She devoted her life to her daughters, Holly and Sarah, and found new joy through her grandchildren, Emma and Jude.

Pam served as a teacher at Campbellsville High School, but to many, she was so much more. She was a second mother, especially to those who felt lost or broken or lonely, often taking students into her own home. She shaped the lives of hundreds of young adults and her love for the Purple and Gold ran deep.

Her journey was one of resilience and strength. Pam believed in the power of words and there is no better way to eulogize her, than in her own words that she wrote to Holly and Sarah this past Easter:

“Here’s what I hope you got from me at some point: I hope you take a minute out of your busy schedules and think about the great sacrifice Jesus made for us, and even though I’ve not always been a great role model when it comes to religion, I do hope I have been when it comes to believing in those things Jesus taught us about love and having hearts that want to service; empathy and joy. I hope I taught you not to discriminate, period. I hope that no matter what I have ever done, I have shown you two power in a great backbone. I’ve personally shown you how to dig deeply into yourselves when the world is kicking your butt, and find that perseverance and strength to keep going. I hope I’ve taught you to laugh out loud and hard even over silly things. And I hope I’ve instilled in you a deep love of great music, and that it’s ok to sing “Hotel California” on the way to church!! Insert big grin here!!”

She showed us, she taught us, and she lived all of these things. So many people are better people because they met her.

Pam is survived by her parents, Rev. J. Alvin and Peggy Hardy, daughters Holly Rothacker (Kevin) and Sarah Durham, grandchildren Emma and Jude Rothacker, siblings Jim and Lorri Hardy and Kathy and Eddie Snow, a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
