Campbellsville Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

Richard H. Humphress, 48 was arrested yesterday at 4:00pm for attempted murder after Sheriffs Department received a complaint of a shooting in the Elkhorn Community. After arriving at the scene deputies learned that 52 year old, Tony Vaughn of Campbellsville had been shot in the back by Humphress. Vaughn advised that he was riding in a wagon being pulled by his mules when Humphress drove up behind him, got out of his truck and shot him in the back with a shotgun. Humphress was located at a residence on Eastridge Cemetery Road where he was arrested. Humphress was lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center. Vaughn was treated for his injuries at Taylor Regional Hospital. Adair County Sheriff’s Dept and the Kentucky State Police also assisted.

Carl Rich Thompson, Age 84

     Mr.Carl Rich Thompson was born December 30, 1926 in Green County, Kentucky to the late Marvin E. Thompson and Tressie Froggett Thompson.  He departed this life Saturday, January 29, 2011 at his home in Leitchfield, Kentucky, having attained the age of eighty-four years and twenty-nine days.

      He had a made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Besides his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters:  Wilbert and Wallace Thompson, Florence Wilcoxson and Isabel Jenson.

Mr. Donnie Glenn Coomes age 73, passed away at his home in Green County, on Saturday, January 29, 2011.  He is survived by his wife Margaret Cook Coomes, one son Ronald Glenn Coomes (Sheila) of Franklin, KY., one daughter Millinda Durham (Ronnie) of Campbellsville, KY., and one brother Walter Coomes of Tampa, Florida.

Campbellsville Man Injured in Marion County Auto Accident

(Marion County, Ky) Trooper Justin Phillips is investigating a collision that occurred at 12:26 am on 1/16/11 on KY 527, 6 miles west of Lebanon. Jimmy Karnes age 66 of Campbellsville was operating a 1992 Ford pickup westbound on KY 527, when he struck a rock wall and overturned. Karnes was transported to Springview Hospital and later flown to U of L.

Trooper Phillips was assisted at the scene by Marion County Fire, EMS and Rescue.

KSP Investigate Shooting in Adair County

(Adair County)  Trooper Bradley Stotts is investigating a shooting incident that occurred on 1/15/11 at approximately 9:30 p.m. in Adair County.  State Police in Columbia received a call from Adair County Dispatch of shots fired at 304 Harris Road in Adair County.

Upon arrival units located the victim, Carl Harrison age 74 of Columbia, who had been shot in the head.  Harrison was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital by Adair County EMS and later transferred to UofL hospital for non life threatening injuries.

KSP located and interviewed a suspect, as well as, the victim and witnesses.  The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Stotts.  KSP was assisted by the Adair County Sheriff’s office.
