Ben “Bengy” Bright, age 49

Ben L. “Bengy” Bright, age 49 years, 11 months, of Campbellsville, died on Monday, August 28, 2017, in Campbellsville.

He was born on September 28, 1967, the son of the late Daniel Lloyd and Peggy June Rakes Bright.  A mechanic at Sapp’s Diesel, he enjoyed doing body work and painting cars in his spare time.  He also loved spending time with his 4 grandchildren.

Bengy is survived by his wife, Melissa Ann Winkler Bright, a daughter, Brittany Rainwater and her husband Jason and four grandchildren, Briley Sapp, Colton Sapp, Caleb Rainwater and Reagan Rainwater all of Campbellsville.

Funeral Services for Ben L. “Bengy” Bright will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. Fellow Wilson officiating.    Burial will follow in the Green River Memorial Cemetery with casket bearers being, Troy Coomer, Jared Coomer, Gary Robertson, Rudy Rucker, Stacy Loy and Tim Tungate.

The family request visitation on Thursday, August 31, from 5-8 p.m.  at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Sharen N. Skaggs, age 76

Sharen N. Skaggs, 76 years and 4 months of age, of Campbellsville died Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Campbellsville.

She worked for Fruit of the Loom for 33 years.  Sharen was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.  She loved to dance and looked forward to Friday nights when they would go out dancing.

A daughter of the late Jim and Elsie Nolting Peace, she was born on April 23, 1941 in Illinois.  Sharen was preceded in death by a daughter, Velda Ann Peace and two sisters, Gale Peace and her twin, Karen Ketchum.

She is survived by her husband, Bernie Skaggs; a daughter, Joyce Murphy and her husband, Terry of Finley; two sons, Scott Wilson and his wife, Kathy of Clay City and Randy Wilson of Louisville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  A sister, Zola Angelo and brother, Ronnie Peace, both of Illinois also survive.

Funeral services for Sharen Skaggs will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 25th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Tony Franklin.  Burial will follow at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

The family requests visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 24th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Lora Mae Dudgeon, age 79

Lora Mae Dudgeon, 79 years and 4 days of age, of Campbellsville, died Thursday, August 17, 2017 in Columbia.

She was born, August 13, 1938, Lora Mae Sallee, the daughter of the late William Arthur and Mary Anna Murrell Sallee.   Besides her parents she was predeceased by two daughters, Lora Rayetta Hicks and Leisha Gail Barke as well as a grandson, Casey Bennett and her brothers and sisters, Atheol Milby, Maurice Sallee, Logan Sallee, William Edward Sallee, Jewel Cox and Delores Sallee.     She had worked for Fruit of the Loom for 38 years and was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church.

Lora is survived by two daughters and two sons, Patricia Milby and her husband David of Tennessee, Darrell Dudgeon and his wife Carol, Joanna Bennett and her husband Stacie and William Michael Dudgeon and his wife Tammy, all of Columbia.   One sister Mary Elizabeth Vance of Greensburg and a brother, Damon Sallee of Campbellsville, 13 grandchildren, Lorie Hicks, Tracy Hicks, Kenson Skaggs, Krishonda Luster, Shyler Berry, Brandon Dudgeon, Jeffrey David Bennett, Samantha Brown, Christopher Michael Dudgeon, Kimberly Hope Cook, April Hunt and Courtney Montes and 26 great grandchildren.

The funeral for Lora Mae Dudgeon will be Sunday, August 20, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Logan Sallee, Jr. with entombment to follow at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.  Casket bearers are Patrick Hunt, Chris Dudgeon, Brandon Dudgeon, Jeffrey Bennett, Kenson Skaggs, and Patrick Skaggs.

Donnie Ray Roots, age 67

 Donnie Ray Roots, 67 years, 1 month and 21 days of age, of Versailles, formerly of Campbellsville, died Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Thomson-Hood Veteran’s Center in Wilmore.

He was born in Campbellsville on June 25, 1950 to the late Charlie F. and Annie Mae Shofner Roots.    Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Joe Roots.

Donnie worked for Campbellsville Industries until 2010, having worked there for 21 years.   At Campbellsville High School he participated in Track and Field and later enjoyed playing softball.  He enjoyed all types of athletics and was an avid UK fan.  In his past time, he liked to hunt squirrels and make extra money by recycling metals and investing with the best forex broker uk. Gray, Mildred, age 81

Mildred Gray, 81 years, 6 months and 29 days of age, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Campbellsville Health and Rehabilitation Center where she had resided for twelve years.

She was born in Adair County on January 2, 1936 to the late Wilbur and Iverne Williams Bault.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Gray, a daughter, Cathy Gray, a brother, Ivan Bault, a half-sister, Debbie Bault and a half-brother, Kenny Bault.

Mildred was a member of the Robinson Creek Baptist Church.  She loved caring for others, was a very good cook and enjoyed quilting.

Mildred is survived by two daughters, Donna Sprowles and her husband, Keith of Campbellsville and Elaine Chesser of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Amy Knifley and her husband, Lyle, of Campbellsville and Randall Chesser of Marion County, three great-grandchildren, Aleah, Aubreigh and Lance Knifley; a sister, Sharon Ford and her husband, Raymond of Campbellsville and a half-brother, DeWayne Bault and his wife, Brenda of Campbellsville.

Funeral services for Mildred Gray will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 4th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. James Collison officiating.  Burial will follow at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Serving as casket bearers will be Darian Gray, Lyle Knifley, Craig Ford, Terry Roberts, Sam Harper and Ronnie Curry.
