James Albert Cross, age 82, of Campbellsville died Monday, May 30, 2016 at Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born May 27, 1934 in Green County to the late William Alonzo “Lonnie” and Mattie B Wright Cross. James worked for 20 years in the school system in Columbus, Indiana and was also a retired farmer. Before going into the nursing home you would often find James enjoying one of his favorite past times, working in his yard. He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Campbellsville.
Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by two wives, Elizabeth Curry Cross and Pearl Cross as well as 2 sisters, Ruby Nell Cross and Wanda Jean Cross and one brother Vernon Lee Cross.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Cross of Campbellsville; one daughter, Brenda Gayle Bowers and her husband Roger of Butlerville, IN; two sons, Rick Allen Cross and his wife Betsy and Danny Wayne Cross of Columbus, IN; two sisters, Correll and her husband, William “Fats” Coffey and Elizabeth Coffey, and one brother, Otis Cross, all of Greensburg, Kentucky; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren also survive. Also surviving is one step-son Donald Davis and his wife Sharon of New Mexico and one step-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2nd, 2016 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery.
The family request visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 1st, 2016 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Cymbeline Pyles Shofner, age 89, of Campbellsville died Sunday, May 29, 2016 in Campbellsville after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 15, 1927 to the late Judge and Letha Burress Pyles. She was united in marriage to Howard Shofner who preceded her in death on December 21, 2007. A daughter, Linda Rainwater also preceded her in death.
Cymbeline was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. She was an avid supporter of her grandchildren, accompanying their families to whatever event where they were participating. She worked at Fruit of the Loom for many years, was a fan of Elvis Presley and loved working in her yard in her spare time.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy Clarke of Campbellsville; four grandchildren, Joe, Sissy, Anthony and Ryan; 8 great-grandchildren, Corey, Claudia, Misha, Gabe, Brandon, Jacob, Clinton and Sarah and four great-great-grandchildren, Carstyn, Luke, Clarke and Chanley; a brother, Bobby Pyles and his wife, Tommie Ann of Campbellsville and a sister-in-law, Jean Pyles of Elizabethtown.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1st at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Rainwater, Jacob Rainwater, Cory Clarke, Sarah Rainwater, Logan Wilson and Ben Janes. Honorary pallbearers will be Clinton Rainwater, Joe Clarke, Anthony Rainwater, Ryan Rainwater, Gabe Henderson and Lyle Sutton.
The family request visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 31st at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Ruth Price Warren, age 89 of Campbellsville died Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Campbellsville.
Ruth was born on November 30, 1926 in Knox County, KY to the late Ward and Cecil Thomas Price. She united in marriage to James Richard Warren on August 14, 1942 and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1996. She worked for Fruit of the Loom for eight years before returning home to work as a full time mother.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Raymond Price and a sister, Mary Martin.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard Warren of Chatsworth, GA and Kevin Warren and his wife, Kelly, of Snellville, GA; three daughters, Janet Scott of Lexington, KY, Brenda Milby and her husband, Larry of Campbellsville and Cynthia Morrison and her husband, Bob of Duluth, GA; five grandchildren, Aaron Warren, Connie Boyce, Brandon Milby, David Scott and Kayla Warren and two great-grandchildren, Alexis Boyce and Lindsay Boyce.

Betty Rowe Vaughn, age 99, a native of Taylor County, died Friday, May 6, 2016 in Toledo, Ohio. She had lived in Toledo for many years and retired from the Ohio Match Company.
Betty was born November 10, 1916 to the late John R. and Fannie Tucker Mings. Her husband Tommy M. Vaughn preceded her in death in 1971.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Jerry Johnson of Toledo; a sister, Nina Chelf, of Louisville and a granddaughter, Sally Finch of Michigan.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the funeral from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

John Ervin Abell, age 70, of Campbellsville died Thursday, April 14, 2016 in Greensburg.
John was born June 6, 1945 in Campbellsville to the late Robert and Elizabeth Abell. He was also preceded in death by siblings, James Ervin, Deborah Nuckols, Virginia Pettigrew, Bill Denton, Jr. and Detroit Denton.
John worked as a cook at Lee’s Famous Recipe for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, working outdoors and repairing things for others.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Clara Taylor Abell; a son, Robert E. Abell and a daughter, Josie Abell, all of Campbellsville; one grandson, Nathanial Beamer; a sister, Beulah Ross of Indianapolis and a brother, Richard Denton and his wife, Geneva, of Campbellsville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bishop Paul Harden officiating. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Don Taylor, Shawn Taylor, Orlando Taylor, Myron Taylor, Joe Clark and Daniel Taylor.
The family request visitation on Sunday from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.
