Beth Paige Herron, age 31

Beth Paige Herron, age 31, of Campbellsville died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 after a brief illness.

She was born May 25, 1984 in Campbellsville to Tim and Cynthia Hudgins who survive.  She was preceded in death by a son, Kingston Klein Cox; a grandfather, David Hovious and great-grandparents, Daniel and Inez Cox and Vernon and Howard Hovious.

Beth had made a profession of faith in Christ and was baptized at Robinson Creek Baptist Church and was attending Beech Grove Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, Beth is survived by her daughter, Kelsey Powell; a sister, Taylor Hudgins; a brother, Chance Hudgins; a grandmother, Rachel Hovious and a fiancé, Brandon Cox, all of Campbellsville.

Private graveside services at Jones Chapel Cemetery are under the direction of Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Taylor County Animal Shelter or Green River Ministries Food Pantry and may be made at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Donnie Shofner, age 76

Donnie Coleman Shofner, age 76, of Campbellsville died Sunday, April 10, 2016 in Campbellsville.

He was born January 24, 1940, in Larue County to the late Waller T. and Laura Shofner.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Gilpin and brothers, Monroe and Roosevelt Shofner.

Donnie had been retired for 14 years from Coca-Cola where he serviced vending machines.  He enjoyed time spent at home where he especially liked watching NASCAR races on television.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Shofner; a daughter, Ashley Shofner, of Campbellsville; sisters, Jane Milby and her husband, Bob, and Kaye Hatcher and her husband, Jim, and Viola Watson and her husband Joe, of Campbellsville, Nevon Wolfe and her husband, George of Virginia, Shelia Gail Morovec of Texas, and Tammy Dixon of Owensboro and brothers, Dean Shofner and his wife, Patricia of Lexington and Scotty Shofner, of Tennessee.

Funeral services for Donnie Shofner will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with burial to follow at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

The family request visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 12th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Lillie Belle Karnes, age 95

Lillie Belle Karnes, age 95, formerly of Campbellsville, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in Greenwood, Mississippi.

Born on August 14, 1920 in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Mary Elizabeth Wethington Sexton.  On December 10, 1938 she married Alvin Edgar Karnes who preceded her in death on May 30, 1960. In addition to her parents and husband, Lillie, was preceded in death by her children, Rosemary Dotson, William “Billy” Karnes, Bobby Karnes and Alfred Karnes; a brother James Sexton; two grandchildren; a niece, Joyce Karnes Sneed and nephew, Clemmie Karnes.

She is survived by a daughter, Geraldine Jones and her husband, Bill of Greenwood, Mississippi; a son, Mike Karnes of Greensburg, 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren and nephews, Jimmy, David, Roger, J.W., D.L. and Brian Karnes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 11th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lebanon National Cemetery, Lebanon.

The family requests visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 10th at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home in Campbellsville.

Frances Newton Moss

Frances Newton Moss, 108, died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at The Grandview in Campbellsville, KY.

She was born in Campbellsville, KY, February 16, 1908, the daughter of the late John Thomas and Frances Phillips Newton.   She grew up in Campbellsville and graduated from Campbellsville High School.   She married Hubert G. Wooldridge, to whom two children were born, Mary Frances Hughes and James Thomas Wooldridge.

She moved to Louisville, KY in 1941 where she spent most of her adult life.   She attended Spencerian Business School and was employed with the Internal Revenue Service.  She retired from the IRS as Assistant, Chief of Personnel with 30 years of service.   She was an active member of St. Paul Methodist Church, Louisville, KY.   She was also an active member of Crescent Hill Women’s Club where she volunteered many hours in the Kosair Crippled Children’s Hospital’s Gift Shop.   She enjoyed entertaining in her home for family and friends.  She also enjoyed working in her rose garden and other flowers.   She loved visits from her children and grandchildren and would plan special activities and trips around Kentucky to entertain them.   She especially wanted her grandchildren from Florida to learn to love the state of Kentucky.   She loved playing golf and traveling.   She moved back to Campbellsville in January 2006, residing at Windsor Garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Wilbur C. (Bill) Moss, sister, Virginia N. Rose and brothers Thomas Puesy Newton and Marvin Newton.  

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Frances Hughes and husband David of Daytona Beach Shores, FL; Son, Dr. Jimmy Wooldridge and wife Violet of Lebanon, KY;  Five grandchildren, Jeff Wooldridge of Lebanon, KY; Terri Paoli and spouse Jules of Oxford, PA;  Rick Tresher and spouse Cindy of New Smyrna Beach, FL; Karen Hughes and Spouse Jeb of Atlanta, GA; Craig Tresher and Spouse Cheryl of Charlotte, NC;  11 Great grandchildren and one sister, Peggy Graham and husband Charles of Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Newton Moss will be held at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 11:30 AM with the Rev. Ed Gayhart officiating.  Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery in Campbellsville, KY.  The family request visitation for Ms. Moss on April 4, 2016 from 10:00 AM until time for the service.  

In lieu of flowers the family suggests remembrances be sent to St. Paul Methodist Church, 2000 Douglas Blvd., Louisville, KY 40207 or your favorite charity in memory of Frances.

Dianna June Turner, 76, formerly of Campbellsville

Dianna June Turner was born in Washington, Indiana to Harry & Pearl Jones on February 5, 1940.  Dianna graduated from Washington High School in Washington, Indiana.  Dianna accepted Christ as a young girl & went on to raise her children in Church serving at Wayman Chapel AME, Princeton, Indiana.  There she was a part of the Prayer Group and a host of other Ministries.

Dianna is the widow of Rev. Oscar Turner whom she was married to for 50 years.  She worked with her husband in the ministry while he served as Pastor at St. Paul Baptist Church, Princeton, Indiana, Jerusalem Chapel Church, Vincennes, Indiana, Second Baptist Church, Franklin, Indiana and finally Beulahland Full Gospel Church in Jacksonville, Florida.  She retired from the State of Indiana after many years of service where she worked as a Supervisor in the Department of Motor Vehicles.  Dianna was a Proverbs 31 Woman.  She took care of her home, her husband and her children.  She sewed, crocheted, cooked wonderful meals, raised a garden, canned vegetables and made homemade preserves & pickles.  Dianna was a very charming woman with a loving heart.  She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Harriet Briggs, of Indianapolis, Indiana, son, Ricky Turner (Adria), of Indianapolis, Indiana, son, Oscar Ray Vaughn, of Campbellsville, Kentucky.  Grandchildren:  Ricky Cecil, Michael Green, Floyd Briggs, II, Adrianna Turner, Ashley Vaughn, Nathaniel Vaughn and Keenan Turner.  Nine Great Grand Children and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a son, Kelly Turner and her husband Oscar Turner.  Two sisters, Wanda Vardiman and Velma Howard and two brothers, Lennis Jones and Ulysses Donnavan who died in gestation.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon, Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Pleasant Union Baptist Church with Rev. James Washington officiating with the eulogy by Rev. Michael Caldwell.  Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Green, Floyd Briggs,II, Rickey Cecil, Keenan Turner, Ron Turner, Randall Graves and Steven Grady.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Union Church cemetery.

Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
