Lyla Wayne Thurman of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Thomas Alfred Wayne and Mary Katherine Lanham Wayne, was born May 27, 1940 in Marion County Kentucky. She died at 3:30 P.M., Wednesday, February 7, 2024 in Campbellsville. Age: 83
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pitman Valley Baptist Church and was in the Women of Ruth Group.
Lyla was a retired bookkeeper and assistant director of the Mercer County Senior Citizens, Inc.
She loved UK football, UK basketball and Nascar. Lyla also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and cross stitching.
She united in marriage to Joe Thurman October 27, 1962 and he preceded her in death December 23, 2012.
Lyla is survived by one brother, Thomas “Buggy” Wayne and wife, Betty of Campbellsville; two nieces: April Higdon and husband, Jr. and Nikki Edwards and husband, Derek; one nephew, A.J. Wayne and wife, Jessica; three great-nieces: Cailee Higdon, Maci Higdon and Wonder Edwards; four great-nephews: Trace Higdon, Kade Wayne, Briggs Wayne and Wilder Edwards; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Lyla was also preceded in death by a son, Samuel Wayne Thurman May 17, 2020.

Johnny Lee Farmer of Campbellsville, son of Barry Thomas Farmer and Haddie Marie Dabney Farmer, was born February 11, 1960 in Shelby County, Kentucky. He died at 11:00 P.M., Sunday, February 4, 2024, in Campbellsville. Age: 63
Johnny was a driver, helper and hauler for the Amish.
He enjoyed mud running, fishing, camping and being outdoors.
Johnny is survived by one son and two daughters: Melissa Rodriguez and husband, Francisco of Shelbyville, John Christopher “J.C.” Farmer and fiancé, Karigan Brizendine of Lawrenceburg and Melinda Whitehouse and fiancé, Keith Brock of Camby, Indiana; one sister, Betty White and significant other, Pete Jeffries of Campbellsville; special friend, Patty Litrell; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Farmer.

Clay Nelson of Lexington, formerly of Campbellsville, son of Greg Nelson and Lisa Garrett Nelson, was born July 24, 1994 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. He died at 6:51 A.M., Saturday, February 3, 2024, in Lexington. Age: 29
He was in management at Malone’s in Lexington and his family said that work was his life.
Clay enjoyed playing guitar and music and everyone loved him.
Besides his parents, Greg and Lisa Nelson of Lexington, Clay is survived by his significant other, Alicia Howard of Lexington; one sister, Candace Layne Kelley of Lexington; one niece, Ava Layne Bradley and many other relatives and friends.
Clay was also preceded in death by his grandparents: Shirley Bolt Garrett and Albert Garrett and Pete Nelson and Rita Nelson Cobb.

Darryel Mings of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Jesse McCoy Mings and Lorene Stayton Mings, was born March 9, 1946 in Marion County, Kentucky. He died at 12:24 A.M., Monday, January 29, 2024, in Louisville. Age: 77
He professed faith in Christ and was of the Christian faith.
He was a retired automobile mechanic.
Darryel is survived by one son and one daughter: Dustin Mings and wife, Deanna and Nikki Price and husband, Darrin of Campbellsville; two grandchildren: Lanigan Price and Lainey Price; two brothers: Jesse Mings, Jr. and Dean Mings of Campbellsville; special friend, Howard Thompson of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Darryel was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenny “Pops” Mings.

Melva Dean Wood of Campbellsville, daughter of the late David Guy Wood and Ethel Dile Wood, was born May 19, 1954 in Jefferson County Kentucky. She died at 4:43 A.M., Tuesday, January 23, 2024 in Louisville. Age: 69
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Green River Memorial Baptist Church.
Melva retired from Cox Interior and was a former cosmetologist.
She loved her family and was a nice and genuine person wherever she was.
She is survived by two daughters: Amanda Wilson and fiancé, Cesar Perez and Angela Newton and husband, Nicholas of Campbellsville; five grandchildren: Saylor Wilson, Brady Cook and wife, Meleah, Brylee Rainwater and husband, Jeremy, Brenton Newton and Bryzon Newton; two great-grandchildren: Cora Cook and Beau Rainwater and one expected great-grandchild; three sisters and four brothers: Norma Wright and husband, Kelly, Helen Rainwater, Sue Hunt and husband, Jim, George Wood and wife, Sharon, Joe Wood and wife, Vickie, Guy Wood and wife, Rebecca and Bobby Wood and wife, Rebecca; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
