On November 16, 2010 at approximately 12:10 pm Detectives from Campbellsville Police Department responded to a possible fire at 201 East Walnut in Campbellsville. Upon arrival Det. Brain Morgan and Det. Bart Gillpin, discovered a methamphetamine lab. Kentucky State Police West Drug Enforcement was contacted to assist with the removal of the waste from the methamphetamine lab. Jimmy James Tungate, age 25, and Echo Nichole Powell, age 21, were arrested and charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine.

Trooper Justin Phillips is investigating a three vehicle collision which occurred at 6:30 p.m. at the Jct of Ky55 & Ky1061, 3 miles South of Campbellsville. A 1988 Chrysler operated by Kevin Lee Holmes, age 25 of Columbia who was not belted, was traveling southbound on Ky55 when he struck a 2003 Ford operated by Ralph Luttrell, age 57 of Russell Springs who was belted. Luttrell’s vehicle was stopped waiting for a vehicle to turn onto Ky 1061. After being struck, Luttrell’s vehicle traveled into the northbound lane striking a 1999 Buick operated by Jerome Maddox, age 67 of Louisville. A passenger, Patricia Maddox, age 66, of Louisville was belted. All occupants were transported to Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville for non life threatening injuries.
Trooper Phillips was assisted at the scene by Trooper Ricky Underwood. Also assisting at the scene were units from Taylor County Sheriff Department, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Fish & Wildlife, Taylor County Fire, Campbellsville Fire and Campbellsville-Taylor County EMS.

(Richmond, Ky.)- A year long investigation into drug trafficking in Central Kentucky called Operation “November Rain” has culminated with the arrests of 83 suspects. On Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at 5:30 a.m. law enforcement officers from the Kentucky State Police, Danville Police Department, Perryville Police Department and the Sheriff’s Departments of Boyle, Garrard, Lincoln and Mercer Counties, began serving arrest warrants on suspected drug traffickers. These suspects were taken to the Kentucky National Guard Armory in Danville, where they were fingerprinted, photographed and interviewed by KSP detectives. The charges include trafficking in marijuana, crack cocaine, powdered cocaine and prescription medication. The KSP encourage the public to report any suspected illegal drug activity to our anonymous drug tip line at 1-800-DOPE TIP or 1-800-222-5555. Please do not confuse this initiative with the attempts to find the right suboxone treatment doctors in Richmond or any other area by people having doctors’ prescriptions. During the month of October, 2010, there were 40 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington. There were seven fatalities during the month of October in the Post 15 area:
Cravens, John Eric; of Albany, KY, was killed in Clinton Co, KY on 10/02/10.
Pinkston, Shannon; of Bardstown, KY, was killed in Marion Co, KY on 10/03/10.
Grider, Timothy G.; of Liberty, KY, was killed in Casey Co, KY on 10/08/10.
Vibbert, Cloe; of Summer Shade, KY was killed in Metcalfe Co, KY on 10/08/10.
Cox, George; of Campbellsville, KY, was killed in Taylor Co, KY on 10/14/10.
Schonder, Austin; of Russell Springs, KY, was killed in Adair Co, KY on 10/22/10.
McClister, Rhonda; of Russell Springs, KY, was killed in Cumberland Co, KY on 10/30/10.
This brings our yearly fatality count to 22 compared with 39 through this same period in 2009.
State wide fatality count stands at 630 compared with 659 through this same period in 2009.
During the month of October, 2010, there were 816 citations written, 320 courtesy notices written, 1428 vehicles inspected, 905 complaints answered, 131 motorists assisted, 77 criminal cases opened and 270 criminal arrests made.

11-03-10 10:25pm – The Kentucky State Police are currently investigating a 2 vehicle collision that occurred earlier this morning on KY 0055 south of Springfield near the Washington/Marion County line. The collision has resulted in one confirmed fatality and the roadway will be closed until further notice. Please encourage motorists to avoid this area until further notice.
11-03-10, 01:03pm – KY 0055 has been re-opened.
11-03-10, 01:51pm – 24-year-old Melanie A. Mattingly, of Springfield KY, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the two vehicle collision. Mattingly was operating a 2000 Buick 4 Door heading north on KY 0055. Her vehicle was struck head-on when a southbound 2002 Ford Van operated by 31-year-old Marion T. Greathouse, crossed the centerline. Greathouse, from New Haven, KY, was transported to Springview Medical Center where he was treated and released.

A 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with Murder in the shooting death of 29-year-old Felicia A. Eads of Russell Springs, Ky. On Tuesday, November 2nd, Russell County Dispatch received a call of shots being fired at 80 Old Eli Road in Russell County at approximately 5:40 CST and KSP was contacted to respond.
Upon arrival at the scene, KSP units found the victim lying in the driveway with what appeared to be a fatal gunshot wound. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the juvenile and 50-year-old Pamela Jane Bennett of Russell Springs who had apparently been involved, along with the juvenile, in an altercation with the victim.
Pamela Jane Bennett was charged with attempted Murder and was lodged in the Casey County Jail. The juvenile was lodged in the Adair County Youth Development Center in Columbia.
KSP Detective B.J. Burton is investigating and was assisted at the scene by Russell County EMS, Russell County Sheriff’s Department and the Jamestown Fire Department.
