Wilba “Angie” Rafferty Davis of Louisville, formerly of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Frank Rafferty and Nora Dabney Rafferty, was born June 21, 1926, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 9:23 P.M., Saturday, November 12, 2016 in Louisville. Age: 90
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Louisville.
She was a loving, dedicated mother who worked hard to provide for her children.
She was a retired employee of Prudential Insurance Company and Don Corlett Imports.
Wilba is survived by one son and two daughters: Ed Taylor and Colleen and husband, James of Louisville and Sheila Renee Unruh of Charlotte, North Carolina; two grandsons: Timothy Harrod of Crestwood and Fred Karem of Louisville; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Rafferty and wife, Anna of Taylor, Michigan; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers and sister: Alvin “Shorty” Rafferty, Murrell “Pete” Rafferty, Wallace “Chet” Rafferty, Sylvia Goins and Arvil Rafferty.

Levettia “Tiny” Hicks, age 87, formerly of Campbellsville, died Monday, November 14, at the Village Care Center in Erlanger, Kentucky.
Levettia was born in Taylor County, Kentucky on March 21, 1929 to the late Grover Carroll and Purnie Eastridge Carroll. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Willard Owen Gaddis as well as her husband, Melvin Hicks, two sons, Daniel and Randall Gaddis, a granddaughter, Megan Gaddis, as well as her three brothers, Arvin, J.T. and Carson Carroll.
Levettia loved flowers, sewing and cooking and had worked many years at the Fruit of the Loom. At the time of her death she was a member of the Feathersburg Church of God.
Levettia was survived by one son, Michael Gaddis and his wife Marsha of Atlanta, GA, a daughter, Judy Money and husband Fred of Dry Ridge, KY, two daughter-in-law’s, Mary Gaddis of Danville, KY, and Madonna Gaddis Chick of Campbellsville, KY and one sister, Annetta Phillips, Eminence, KY. Also surviving are four step-children, Conrad Hicks and his wife Judy of Junction City, KY, Tony Hicks and Linda Sallee and her husband Ricky of Campbellsville and Barbara Annette Cook, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grand-children, 12 step grandchildren and 4 step great grand-children.
Funeral services for Levettia “Tiny” Hicks will be on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. Beulah Catherine Campbell of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Abraham Campbell and Bertha Durham Campbell, was born May 7, 1916, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 12:05A.M., Saturday, November 12, 2016 in Campbellsville. She fulfilled her long-time dream of living to be 100 years old, at which time she revealed her secret to living a long life; “to make each day a wonderful day.”
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Boone, North Carolina.
She was a graduate of Campbellsville Junior College and Western Kentucky State Teachers College and spent 45 years in the field of education. She taught in Taylor County’s rural schools including Sunny Hill (a one room school house), Boone Demonstration School, Boone North Carolina, Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania and Appalachian State University Boone North Carolina. In 1978 she was promoted to full professor and in 1981 was granted emerita status, at the time of retirement from Appalachian State. She was passionate about children’s literature and throughout her career; she collected children’s books and illustrations, and gained national recognition for her work conducting literature conferences and workshops. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma in North Carolina.
She is survived by her sister in law, Mary Campbell of Campbellsville; a niece, Janet Campbell Clark and husband, Gerald of Campbellsville; great nephew, Christopher Clark and wife, Shannon of Campbellsville; one great-great nephew, Cameron Thomas Clark and one great-great niece, Blair Campbell Clark and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her three brothers: Samuel Wray Campbell May 9, 1995 Omer Harding Campbell August 4, 1990 and a brother who died in infancy on October 4, 1912 and a great niece, Angela Clark Davis February 19, 2009.

Margaret Wood Smith of Lexington, formerly of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Annie Smith Wood and Samuel Chandler Wood and stepmother, Tommie Wood Marshall, was born November 29, 1917, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 1:24 A.M., Friday, November 11, 2016 in Lexington. Age: 98
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church for eighty-three precious years where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Margaret was a graduate of Valdosta State College.
She was a retired Administrative Assistant with the Taylor County School System.
During the years of 1942 -1945 in the World War II town of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Margaret was unknowingly working on a secret project, which was later known as the Atomic Bomb. In 2013 a book was published about “The Girls of Atomic City”. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Taylor County Historical Society. Because of her record keeping and ability to identify people and places in old photographs, she was instrumental in the documentation of Taylor County history.
Margaret united in marriage to G. Dennis Smith December 2, 1941 who preceded her in death on July 31, 2001.
She is survived by two sons and one step-daughter: Chandler Smith and wife, Cathy of Lexington, George Smith and wife, Gail of Lexington, Dr. Patricia Barton of Williamsburg, Virginia; five grandsons and one granddaughter: Adam Smith and wife, Stephanie of Anna, Texas, Cody Smith and wife, Lauren of Lexington, Christopher Smith and wife, Kim of Lexington, Tyler Smith and wife, Courtney of West Hartford, Connecticut, Carson Smith and wife, Christy of Lexington, Laura Gail Smith of Washington, D.C.; two step-grandchildren: Scott Barton and wife, Mary Ellen of Richmond, Virginia, Mike Barton and wife, Jennifer of Basking Ridge, New Jersey; seven great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Margie Lois Buckland of Campbellsville was born in Taylor County on October 26, 1958 to the late Shelby Woodrow and Georgia Annetta (Gupton) Beard. She departed this life on Monday, November 7, 2016 at her home at the age of 58 years and 12 days. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church. She was a 1976 graduate of Campbellsville Independent Schools and an active volunteer in the community. Margie was a Girls in Action and a Girl Scout leader, a GCHS Band Booster, and a Tupperware Manager. She had been employed at WalMart over twenty years at the time of her passing. She married Bill Buckland in September of 2001, and together they created many precious memories. She loved being outdoors; the times she spent camping, boating, and fishing with her family will be forever cherished, but time spent with her grandkids was paramount in her life.

Marilyn Viers, age 64, of Elk Horn died Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville following and extended illness.
Marilyn was born on January 6, 1952 in Lawrenceville, Illinois to the late John Robert and Blanche Bonnie Morris Doss. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Wells and brothers, Stephen Doss, Dennis Doss and Michael Ray Doss.
Marilyn had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Stoner Creek United Methodist Church. She loved being Mom and Grandma and found pleasure in cooking and caring for her family. She enjoyed spending spare time writing poetry and fishing.
She is survived by her husband, William Henry Viers; a son and his wife, Jim and Lisa Reaves Viers, of Elk Horn, a grand-daughter, Brittany Viers; a great-granddaughter, Lily Jo Marie Reaves and bonus grandchildren, Jeffrey Simpson, James Simpson and Kelli Simpson. Also surviving are her two sisters and their husbands, Alice and Neil Vandiver, Louisville and Bonnie and Freddy Thompson of Big Springs, KY; a brother and his wife, Bill and Debbie Doss of Payneville, KY and other special people in her life, Sarah McDonald, Ashley Shaw and Alea Smith who were like grandchildren to her.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, November 12th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. John Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Callahan Cemetery.

Mr. Paul Charles Simpson, a resident of Bluegrass Way in Campbellsville, formerly of Walton, Kentucky, passed peacefully from this life on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Taylor Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Reamy and Minnie (Hammond) Simpson, and was one of five children born into this union. Mr. Simpson was 93 years and 20 days of age when he was called to his eternal home. He professed faith in Christ and was an elder in the Walton Christian Church. He married Dorothy McMillian on March 25, 1945, and they shared their lives until her passing in 2009. Mr. Simpson answered the call to duty and served his country honorably in the United States Navy as a tail gunner in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He had a strong belief in honor and duty, two traits that were evidenced in his both his private and public lives. He was a former mayor of Walton, and a retiree of Cincinnati Gas and Electric / Duke Energy. His kind and caring spirit will not only be missed by his family, but also the communities he touched.
He leaves to carry his legacy:

Mr. Simpson preferred cremation, and those rites were entrusted to the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Campbellsville. There was no public visitation. Mr. Simpson had requested to be buried with his wife, and together they will be interred in the Walton Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Cecil Clay Stubbs of Campbellsville, son of the late Alvin Kenneth and Lizzie May (Kearney) Stubbs, was born in Adair County on May 25, 1941. He departed this life on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Campbellsville Nursing and Rehab Center after an illness. He was 75 years, 5 months, and 10 days of age. Mr. Stubbs was a sawmill worker, a former employee of the Fruit of the Loom factory, and drove a cab. He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. George Frank Hagan of Campbellsville passed from this life on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Louisville, having attained the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 21 days. He was born on December 15, 1927 in Tompkinsville to the late Bascal and Effie (Carlock) Hagan. Mr. Hagan professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He was the owner and operator of Hagan’s Auto Sales, the oldest used car dealership in Taylor County. Mr. Hagan also kept busy by hauling milk for Chapel’s Dairy, and as a young man, he had worked in the funeral business. He answered the call to duty and served his country honorably in the United States Army.

Louis Kenneth “Kenny” Carroll, age 82, of Campbellsville died Thursday, November 3rd in Louisville, KY following a brief illness.
Kenny was born in Louisville, KY on February 11, 1934 to the late Harlan and Lora Newcomb Carroll. He was also predeceased by a brother, Gerald Carroll and a grand daughter-in-law, Ali Nunery.
Kenny was the owner of Carroll’s heating installation services and enjoyed serving the community for over 60 years in this capacity, she always admired the work done by the plumber daphne al team, who are real professionals on the field. In 1948 he made a profession of faith and joined Campbellsville Baptist Church where he faithfully served over the years in various roles plumbing services.
