James Horace “Jim” Hogan of Campbellsville, son of the late Joe Coakley Hogan and Mozelle McDonald Hogan, was born April 1, 1949, in Taylor County, Kentucky.  He died at 12:57 P.M., Sunday, July 27, 2014 in Campbellsville.      Age: 65

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Mannsville United Methodist Church.

He was a graduate of Campbellsville University and a retired truck driver.

He is survived by one son and one daughter: Jeremy Hogan of Texas and Angela Williams of Lebanon; four grandchildren: Ryan Adam Hogan of Columbia, Jade Williams, Maleah Williams and Colton Williams of Lebanon; one brother, Arthur Douglas Hogan of Campbellsville; two brothers-in-law: George Henry Dearen of Campbellsville and Charles David Phillips of Texas; two aunts: Margaret McDonald and Helen Hogg of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a son, James Adam Hogan October 21, 2010 and three sisters: Anna Mae Phillips, Joyce Dearen and Tilda Lamb.

Tommy Daffron of Campbellsville, son of the late Claude P. Daffron and Lucy Pauline Crouch Daffron, was born November 27, 1936 in Wayne County, Kentucky.  He died at 1:35 P.M., Monday, July 28, 2014 in Campbellsville.      Age: 77

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith.

He was a retired truck driver.

He united in marriage to Lois Nunn October 8, 1957.

Besides his wife, Lois Daffron of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son and two daughters: Terry Daffron and wife, Shari of Elk Horn, Carol Elmore and husband, Mike and Lee Ann Muncie and husband, Jeff of Campbellsville; five grandchildren: Tessa Collins, Vanessa Smith and husband, Jason, Jessica Browning and husband, Jamie and Jeffery Muncie and wife, Lindsey of Campbellsville and Torri Daffron of Elk Horn; four great-grandchildren: Sophie Smith, Ava Muncie, Adrian Browning and Brianna Browning; six sisters: Eva Spurling, Marie Edelen, Betty McCubbin and husband, Stanley, Barbara Wright, Mary McMahan and husband, Jerry and Lytha Noel of Campbellsville; one sister-in-law, Norma Jean Rogers of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Claude Junior Daffron, Phillip Daffron and Neva Greer.

Janice PriceJanice Colleen Price, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. She was born on June 12, 1931 to the late James Frank and Jessie Pearl (Graybeal) Moore. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed shopping especially at the Peddlers Mall and yardsales.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband; Howard Price, daughter; K. Diane Williams, brothers; Vernon Moore, Bluford Moore, Delbert Moore, and sister; Carol Russell.

She is survived by daughters; Pamela Price, Kathy Stone, sons; Ricky Price, Danny Price (Della), G. Keith Price (Martha), brothers; Donnie Moore (Pat)of Campbellsville, Dorland Moore (Lana), Bobby Moore (Rose), sister; Jaunita Hicks, and 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral ceremonies was held on Saturday, July, 26, 2014 at 11:00 am, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Louisville, Kentucky with burial in the Resthaven Cemetery.

He is survived by two brothers and one half-sister: Kevin O’Bannon and wife, Debra of Campbellsville, Michael O’Bannon of Louisville and Diane O’Bannon of Houston; many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Erin O’Bannon.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Gilboa Baptist Church.

She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

She united in marriage to Turner Earl Short November 8, 1941. He preceded her in death in February 8, 1971.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Rogers of Campbellsville; one son-in-law, Lou Bingham of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren: Eric Phillips and wife, Lorie of Campbellsville, Camille Turner and husband, Tommy of Magnolia, Robin Hunt and husband, Dale of Elizabethtown and Amy Medley and husband, Jeff of Louisville; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Short Bingham and three brothers and one sister: Sam Denton, Tom Denton, Bud Denton and Dorothy Edwards.

Besides his wife, Kathryn Douglas of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Joe and Sheila Douglas of Campbellsville; one granddaughter, Brooke Gupton and husband, Josh of Greensburg; one great-granddaughter, Lexi Kate Gupton of Greensburg; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Stearman.

Capt. Marion V. Bowman, USMC Ret., age 84

marine emblemCapt. Marion V. Bowman, USMC Ret., age 84, husband of Willine Bowman of Campbellsville died Friday, July 18, 2014 in Taylor Regional Hospital.

A native of Taylor County, he was born to Luther and Bessie Chappell Bowman on August 28, 1929.  He attained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Korea and Viet Nam.  After retiring from the Marines, he taught at the Naval Air Station in Memphis for 16 years.  He later returned to Campbellsville where he was the first recipient of the Taylor County Patriotism Award.  He was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church and also attended services at the First Church of God with his wife.  He also was a member of Gideons International.

Marion was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Sue Stone Bowman.

Besides his wife, Willine;  he is survived by his sons, Phil Garcia, Memphis, TN, Huel J. Chenault, Memphis, TN, David L. Chenault and his wife, Terri, of Byhalia, MS, Michael A. Bowman and his wife, Debbie, of Jacksonville, NC, Stephen “Pat” Bowman, of Memphis, TN and Robert S. Bowman and his wife, Jackie, of Arlington, TN; a sister, Mildred Walker of Brandywine, VA; step-sons, Greg Barnett and his wife, Barbara of Calvary, KY and Doug Barnett and his companion, Sandy McFelea, of Campbellsville, KY; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22nd  at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with burial with full military honors at Elliott Cemetery. The family request that visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

The family request that contributions of remembrance be made to place Gideon Bibles and may be made at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church. She united in marriage to Hardin Mardis December 26, 1942. He preceded her in death January 22, 1997.

She is survived by one daughter and two sons: Joyce Russell and husband, Mike, Garnett Mardis and wife, Ruthie, and Terry Mardis of Campbellsville; six grandchildren: Chad Mardis and wife, DeAnna, Shana Crabtree and husband, Allen, Derek Mardis and Ashley Darnell of Campbellsville; Brandon Mardis and wife, Devin of Westport, Kentucky and Kyle Mardis and wife, Beverly of Knifley; eight great-grandchildren: MaKayla Mardis, Molly Crabtree, Gracie Hadley, Emma Hadley, Natalie Arnett, Blake Day, Brooklyn Milby and Kinsley Lee; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Larry Collins of Campbellsville, son of the late Norma Faye Pike, was born March 28, 1951 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  He died at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, July 12, 2014 in Campbellsville.      Age: 63

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Robinson Creek Baptist Church

He was a retired employee of the Kentucky Highway Department as superintendent.

He united in marriage to Donna Thompson Fox May 17, 2004. She preceded him in death June 24, 2012.

He is survived by one son, Patrick Collins, II and wife, Karianne of Glasgow; two step-daughters: Diane Phillips and husband, Eric of Campbellsville and Denise Mickey and husband, Matthew of Clarksville, Tennessee; one grandson, Trey Collins of Glasgow; three step-granddaughters: Chloe Phillips and Kaitlyn Phillips of Campbellsville and Lily Mickey of Clarksville, Tennessee; one brother and one sister: Gary Milby and wife, Marcia of Campbellsville and Sharon Stone of Columbia, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Robert Ryan Salinas, age 29, of Columbia, passed away on Thursday in Columbia at the Westlake Regional Hospital from injuries sustained as a result of an automobile accident.

Survivors include his mother: Bertha Salinas of Texas.

His twin sons: Robert Salinas, Jr and Christian Salinas, both of Texas.

Six siblings: Rosa Ocampo, Richard Salinas and Maria Nash, all of Chicago, Raymond Salinas and Raquel Salinas both of Texas and Laura Sandoval of Illinois.

His grandmother: Celia Garcia of Chicago and a host of other relatives and friends.
