RANDALL VANCLEAVE

Randall VanCleave of Campbellsville, son of the late Richard C. VanCleave and Katherine Cox VanCleave, was born in Detroit, Michigan March 23, 1933.  He died at 6:52 A.M., Saturday, May 31, 2014, in Campbellsville.       Age: 81

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

He was owner and operator of R.C. VanCleave & Son Business.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served his country honorably in the United States Army.

He united in marriage to Mary Martin July 3, 1958.

Besides his wife, Mary VanCleave, he is survived by two daughters: Gail Cochran and Sherry Matthews and husband, Tony of Campbellsville; four grandchildren: Cory Harrison, Josh Cochran and Katlin Cochran of Campbellsville, and Chris Harrison and wife, Megan of Columbia; three great-grandchildren: Gavin Harrison, Ava Harrison and Levi Harrison; and many other relatives and friends.

Tammy White of Campbellsville, daughter of Barbara Shively Dicken and the late Garry Dicken, was born in Marion County, Kentucky, June 7, 1970. She died at 9:14 A.M., Thursday, May 29, 2014 in Louisville.   Age: 43

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pitman Valley Baptist Church.

She was a former employee at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She united in marriage to David White September 25, 1993.

Besides her husband, David White she is survived by one son and one daughter: Tanner White and Mylea White; her mother, Barbara Shively Dicken; one sister, Pam Dicken; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sandra and Gary White; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Damon and Tammy Jo White; two nieces and two nephews: Lydia Dicken, Jessie Jo Whitlock, Chase Burton and Dayton White all of Campbellsville and many other relatives and friends.

Greg Podolan, 65

Vintage Perfume VialGreg Podolan, age 65, husband of Janice Mary Podolan, of Elk Horn, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY.

Greg was a native of Mt. Clemens, MI, the son of the late Edward William Podolan and Elaine Smith Podolan of Shelby Township, Michigan who survives. An accountant, he was retired from Ford Motor Company and was a US Air Force Veteran of the Viet Nam War.  After retirement he relocated to Taylor County, Kentucky where he enjoyed tending to their livestock.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his sons, Justin Podolan, of Elk Horn and Adam Podolan of Nicholasville, KY; a daughter, Jennifer Podolan, of Nicholasville; a brother, Mark Podolan and sister, Suzanne Powell, both of Macomb Township, MI.

Local visitation will be Sunday, June 1st from 2 to 5 pm at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with visitation from 1 to 4 pm Wednesday, June 4th followed by a funeral at 4 pm  at the Gramer Funeral Home in Shelby Township, MI.

Herman W. Rattliff of Campbellsville, son of the late James William “Jimmy” Rattliff and Estell Dobson Rattliff, was born in Green County, Kentucky April 2, 1926.  He died at 2:30 A.M., Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Campbellsville.       Age: 88

He professed faith in Christ and attended St. Mark United Methodist Church.

He was a former Kentucky State Representative for nineteen years, having served Taylor, Green, Metcalfe and Marion Counties and served three terms as minority caucus chairman. . He was a retired farmer specializing in Charolais cattle, a businessman and former partner with Supertone Studio for forty-one years.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country honorably in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He united in marriage to Jewell Merritt March 18, 1951.

Besides his wife, Jewell Rattliff, he is survived by one son and one daughter: Brian Rattliff and wife, Beth of Louisville and Kristi Rattliff Hickerson of Campbellsville; one grandson, Cameron Rattliff and wife, Natalie of Louisville; one brother and one sister:

J. W. Rattliff and wife, Joyce of Greensburg and Doris Rodgers and husband, Junior of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister: Vernon Rattliff, Wesley Rattliff, Ronnie Rattliff and Willya Cox.

Johnnie C. Reid of Campbellsville, son of the late Ralph Reid and Celesta Davidson Reid, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky February 5, 1933. He

died at 6:54 A.M., Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in Campbellsville.       Age: 81

He was a retired employee of L G & E in Louisville.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served his country honorably in the United States Marines.

He is survived by three nieces and one nephew: Cindy Amick of Chesapeake, Virginia, Donna White of Raleigh, North Carolina, Bonnie Fugere of Norfolk, Virginia and Douglas White of Gastonia, North Carolina; three local cousins: Jenetta Parrish and Larry T. Clark of Campbellsville and Paul Clark of Greensburg and several other cousins and friends.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Anne White May 17, 1987.

Berney Kessinger of Campbellsville, son of the late Henry Clay Kessinger and Lizzie Nelson Kessinger, was born in Larue County, Kentucky June 5, 1932.  He died at 5:20 A.M., Tuesday, May 27, 2014, in Louisville.       Age: 81

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

He was a mechanic and former employee of Larue County Road Department and Fruit of the Loom.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served his country honorably in the United States Army.

He united in marriage to Martha Sapp Brewer April 7, 2006.

Besides his wife, Martha Sapp Kessinger, he is survived by three sons and one daughter: Leon Kessinger and wife, Joan and Ricky Kessinger and wife, Mary of Hodgenville, Mark Kessinger and wife, Renee of Campbellsville and Debbie Henderson and husband, Billy of Greensburg; three step-children: Wayne Sapp and wife, Wanda and Gary Sapp of Campbellsville, Kathy Pierce and husband, Chris of North Liberty, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Ashley Yount, Wesley Kessinger, Allison Kessinger, Whitney Kessinger, Emily Kessinger, Ashley Mosley, Marcus Kessinger and Logan Kessinger; three step- grandchildren: Josh Sapp and wife, Tasha, Shane Sapp and wife, Candace and Tiffany Raikes: three step great-grandchildren: Kyler Sapp, Hank Sapp and Bailey Sapp; one brother, Arvin Kessinger and wife, Julie of Hodgenville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Marie Cruse and Naomi Twiddy.

Carol Nance McKinney

Carol Nance McKinney of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Welby Nance and Marie Gameltoff Nance, was born in Atlanta, Georgia October 29, 1934. She passed peacefully away at 4:35 P.M., Monday, May 26, 2014 in Campbellsville with her family at her side.   Age: 79

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and had served for a number of years in the Ladies Auxillary.

She was a retired nursing assistant with Taylor Regional Hospital and Family Home Health. She also had worked for a number of years with the Campbellsville School system, first as a teacher’s assistant in the elementary and then as a secretary in the high school.

Carol was an active member of the community, especially in politics. She served as president of the Young Democrats for several years and was also a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. She was a member of the American Cancer Society and a member of the American Legion. She also loved to bowl and fish and won many trophies. She knew where all the great fishing holes were. We will miss her great personality and open and caring heart.

She united in marriage to William L. “Bill” McKinney June 6, 1953.

Besides her husband, William L. “Bill” McKinney of Campbellsville, she is survived by two daughters and one son: Kim Pendleton and husband, Joe, Greg McKinney and wife, Cheryl and Ann York and husband, Bubby of Campbellsville; five grandchildren: Krissy Welch, Dee Brown, Donald Brown, April Nalley, Dalton McKinney; eight great-grandchildren: Logan Brown, Gracie Miller, Belle Brown, Kylie Brown, Sarah Brown, Jack Brown, Blake Landis and Aleigha Nalley; one brother, Larry Nance of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, James R. “Sonny” Nance December 4, 1982.

Rachel Gayle Perkins Cofer, 58

Mrs. Rachel Gayle (Perkins) Cofer, of Campbellsville, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at her home. She was 58 years, 1 month, and 10 days of age. She was the daughter of Mrs. Anna Margaret (Harrison) Perkins and the late Morris Glen Perkins. Although disabled, Mrs. Cofer loved being outside, especially fishing, as her health permitted. She had professed faith in Christ, and was a member of Green River Memorial Baptist Church.

Mrs. Cofer leaves to mourn her passing:
Two daughters: Karen Corbin of Campbellsville, and Rachel Armstrong and husband Eric, also of Campbellsville,
Her mother: Margaret (Harrison) Perkins of Campbellsville

There will be a funeral service for Mrs. Cofer on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd., Campbellsville, KY 42718, at 11:00 AM. Bro’s Jamie Bennett and Landon Hadley officiating.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, May 29, from 5:00-8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials take the form of donations to the funeral expenses, and can be made at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are: James Scott, Eric Armstrong, Mark Shreve, Brian Seals, Ricky Brown, and Courtney Seals. Her grandchildren will stand as honorary pallbearers.

Ruth Ann Jenkins, age 63

jenkins, ruth ann croppedRuth Ann Stayton Jenkins, age 63, of Campbellsville died Saturday May, 24 2014 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.

A native of Adair County, she was a daughter of the late Vitus and Anna Bottoms Stayton.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Keith and her brother, Arville Stayton.

Survivors include her husband, Houston Jenkins; four sisters, Tretha Dugger and her husband, Gerry, Donna Estes and her husband Bobby and Linda Owens, all of Campbellsville and Gwen Keith of Indiana; step-children, Steve Jenkins of Somerset, Kevin Jenkins of Columbia and Margo Gray of Campbellsville and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ruth Ann Jenkins will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with burial at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.  The family request visitation after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Jerri was a daughter of the late Melvin and Mattye Cox Brown.  She had lived in Athens and Vidalia, GA prior to moving to Campbellsville one and a half years ago.  She was a member of First Christian Church of Athens, GA and the Eastern Star Chapter in Vidalia, GA.  She had worked in accounting for several years before retiring from Wal-Mart.

She is survived by her daughter, Angie Lee of Campbellsville; a son, Mark Weatherly of Enterprise, AL; a sister, Roseanne Adkins of Orlando, FL and seven grandchildren, Jennifer Bellew, Caitlin Weatherly, Laria Lee, Ally Weatherly, Tiffany Bellew, Allen Lee and Kyle Weatherly.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with burial at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.  The family requests visitation from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.
