Margaret Frances “Peggy” Chambers

Margaret Frances “Peggy” Atkinson Chambers age 85 of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Dr. William Burr Atkinson and Sallie Wade Atkinson, died surrounded by her four children at her home at 10:06 am on the eighteenth day of June 2013 during a gentle rain.  She was born on June 22, 1927, in Marion County, Kentucky.  She was a descendent of a family living in central Kentucky for almost 200 years.   A student of Centre College and the University of Kentucky, she graduated with a degree in art education.  She professed faith in Christ and was a member and Elder of the Bethel First Presbyterian Church.  She was a woman of keen mind, great wisdom, energy, and humor. She made her career as a mother and wife. To her children and husband she devoted all the treasures of her kindness, intellect, spirit, and fun loving ways.  She was the first woman elected to the Campbellsville City Council, a fire commissioner, a Junior Miss coach, a local guru of biblical interpretation, a true-blood political centrist, a Grand Life Master bridge player, and a genuine friend to so many.
She united in marriage to Dr. Henry Forrest “Hank” Chambers on December 21, 1949.  He preceded her in death on January 3, 2005.  She is survived by her four children, Dr. Henry F. “Chip” Chambers, III and his wife, Dr. Joyce Hansen, of San Francisco, California, Beth Overgaauw of Campbellsville, Sue Wallingford and her husband, Jay, of Boulder, Colorado, and Dr. Andy Chambers and his wife, Dr. Joanna Chambers, of Indianapolis, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Will Chambers, Julia Chambers, Ben Overgaauw, Jacob Overgaauw, Trina Overgaauw, Jayce Wallingford, Emma Wallingford, Gabriel Chambers, and Sophia Chambers; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister, Dr. William Wade Atkinson and Elizabeth Atkinson Clements.

Mary Katherine Lollar

Mary Katherine Lollar of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Ira Watson England and Sular Janes England, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, March 27, 1936.  She died at 6:53 P.M., Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in Louisville.   Age: 77

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

She united in marriage to Paul Gilbert Lollar December 31, 1958.  He preceded her in death August 13, 1990.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Debbie Lollar of Campbellsville; one step-granddaughter, Lindsay Phelps and husband, Ben of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; one brother and one sister:  Herbert England and Fannie Hall of Campbellsville; two sisters-in-law:  Margie England and Deloris England of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister:  Raymond England, Treman England, Ira England, Jr., James England, Charles England and Avis Bright.

Elva Hunt of Lexington, formerly of the Mt. Gilboa Community, daughter of the late Bennie Wilton Hunt and Josie Ella Hunt, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, January 11, 1912.  She died at 8:24 A.M., Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in Lexington.   Age: 101

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Gilboa Baptist Church. She united in marriage to Oliver Hunt September 19, 1931.  He preceded her in death May 5, 1980.

She is survived by one son and one daughter:  Darrell Hunt and wife, Nancy of Campbellsville and Mildred Wise and husband, Carl of Lexington; five granddaughters:  Donna Faulkner and husband, Scott and Cindy Hunt of Campbellsville, Jan Dowd and husband, Ray and Carla Masharbash and husband, Issa of Lexington and Allison Hunt of Riverside, California; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters:  Herman Hunt, Ervin Hunt, Leona Sullivan and Lizzie Sullivan.

Maxine Underwood Pike of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Oscar Underwood and Katie Salsman Underwood, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, March 27, 1943.  She died at 6:30 P.M., Saturday, June 15, 2013, in Campbellsville.     Age:   70

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

She was an employee of Fruit of the Loom and Walmart in Campbellsville.

She united in marriage to Melvin Pike March 27, 1970.

Besides her husband, Melvin Pike, she is survived by two sons:  Roger Pike and wife, Shannon and Jerry Pike of Campbellsville; one granddaughter and two grandsons: Katie Pike and friend Derek Lobb of Greensburg, Todd Pike and Landon Pike of Campbellsville; one great grandson: Dawson Lobb of Greensburg; many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by one brother Billy Gene Underwood and a sister in infancy.

Janada Morris Wilson of Ninevah, Indiana, formerly of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Thomas Morris and Ruby Johnson Morris, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, March 19, 1931. She died at 6:05 P.M., Thursday, June 13, 2013, in Indianapolis, Indiana.      Age:  82

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Lick Spring Baptist Church.

She united in marriage to Orville Lee Wilson May 27, 1954. He preceded her in death June 26, 1996.

She is survived by three grandchildren: Crystal Gayle Veatch of Greenwood, Indiana and Terry Veatch and Wayne Veatch of Ninevah, Indiana; three great- grandchildren: Destiny Perkins, Addison Veatch, and Charlie Veatch; her son-in-law, Carl Veatch of Ninevah, Indiana; one sister and one brother: Juanita Moss and Dennis Morris and wife, Frances of Campbellsville; two sisters-in-law: Frances Morris of Campbellsville and Judy Rammey of Indiana; several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Fay Veatch  in 2007 and one brother, Harold Morris in 2003.

Bobby Jones of Campbellsville, son of the late Roy Lee Jones and Ida Fay Osborne Jones, was born in Pemberton, West Virginia May 5, 1939.  He died at 2:15 A.M., Thursday, June 13, 2013 in Campbellsville.     Age:   74

He professed faith in Christ and attended God’s Grace Church.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army.

He was a retired employee of Jones Brothers Aluminum.

He united in marriage to Geneva Gabehart October 18, 1958.

Besides his wife, Geneva Gabehart Jones, he is survived by one son, Carl David Jones of Louisville; two brothers and one sister:  Timmy Jones and wife, Kellie Margaret LaPradd of Campbellsville and Charles Wayne Jones and wife, Cheryl of Ohio; one step-brother, Terry Parson of Jacksonville, Florida; three sisters-in-law:  Rosaline Jones, Audrey Jones and Jewell Dean Jones; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister:  Lester R. Jones, Johnny J. Jones, Lloyd Jones, Billy Ray Jones, Jackie Jones and Juanita Lee and his step-mother, Ada Jones.

Darien McKenzie of Campbellsville, son of the late Dutch McKenzie and Reba Fannie Meldrin McKenzie, was born in Savannah, Georgia, January 7, 1930.  He died at 2:25 P.M., Thursday, June 13, 2013 in Greensburg.     Age:   83

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served his country honorably in the United States Navy.

He was a retired papermill employee.

He united in marriage to Glenda Cox Rainwater August 15, 2006.

Besides his wife, Glenda Rainwater McKenzie, he is survived by two daughters:  Cherie Carmona and husband, Fernando of Radcliff and Terry Bouier and husband, Mark of Eufaula, Alabama; nine step-children:  Melissa Willis and Kimberly Mason of Campbellsville; Kristi Rainwater of Texas, Greg Rainwater, Kevin Rainwater, Elizabeth Rainwater, Stacey Rainwater, Shawn Rainwater and Tonia Rainwater of Nashville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard McKenzie and two step-sons: Timmy Rainwater August 20, 2007 and David Rainwater in 1993.

Mrs. Vertilee (Skaggs) Price, age 80 formally of Taylor County died Tuesday at Georgetown Manor Care Facility in Louisville, Kentucky.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Willie Leo and Theresa Price of Illinois, two daughters and son-in-laws; Wanda and Jesse Johnson of Louisville and Helen and Gary Shelton of Indiana, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, two brothers and sister-in-laws; James and Joyce Skaggs and Elmer and Jewel Skaggs both of Louisville, along with a host of family and friends.

He was a retired logger and farmer and an avid fisherman.

June 9, 2013, in Bardstown.     Age:   83

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church in Bardstown.

He was a lifetime farmer and he was a Baptist minister for more than fifty years and retired from Bloomfield Baptist Church.

He united in marriage to Louise Phillips November 8, 1944.  She preceded him in death October 8, 1997.

He united in marriage to Wanda Brown Chesser December 12, 1998.

Besides his wife, Wanda Pike, he is survived by two sons:  Gary Pike and wife, Robin of Springfield and Bill Pike and wife, Diane of Bardstown; three step-children:  Vic Chesser and wife, Tami of Louisville, Todd Chesser and wife, Kathy of Bethlehem and Leah Chesser of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren:  Matt Money and wife, Tarren of Tampa, Florida, Chad Pike and Chris Pike and wife, Karen of Bloomfield, Adam Pike and wife, Nikki of Lancaster, Andy Pike and wife, Emily of Hardyville, Jennifer Pike and fiancée, Justin Dugan and Tonya Roberts of Bardstown; eight step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren:  Hannah Money, Aaron Money, Alex Roberts, Chance Roberts, Lyndsey Vittitow, Cora Oats, Cole Pike, Cammy Pike, Caleb Pike and Rylan Pike; three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Rev.
