James (Jim) Edward Philpott

James (Jim) Edward Philpott, age 70, of Campbellsville, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at the University
Hospital in Louisville after an illness.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Philpott of Campbellsville, one son, Patrick Philpott of Denver and one sister, Barbara Morris ofLouisville. He is also survived by one nephew and his wife,  Barry and Laura Morris of Louisville.

Funeral services for James (Jim) Philpott will be held at   11 A.M.Friday at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel with burial Brookside Cemetery with full military honors by the Marion County Chapter of the DAV.

The family request visitation from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at  the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel.

The family request that expressions of sympathy take the  form of donations to the Greensburg Rotary Club or the Hosparus of Central Kentucky.  These donations may be made at the funeral  home.

Peggy Ware Pyles

Peggy Ware Pyles of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Cary U. Ware and Ida Pearl Coomer Ware, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, February 6, 1933.  She died at 8:53 A.M., Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in Campbellsville.   Age:  78

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, having been a Grand Representative and a Past Worthy Matron.

She united in marriage to Marzon Pyles November 23, 1956.

Besides her husband, Marzon Pyles, she is survived by one son and two daughters: Billy Pyles, Ivy Keen and friend, Steven Harris and Beth Murphy and husband, Jeff of Campbellsville; four grandchildren:  James Broyles, Chad Skaggs and wife, Bonnie of Campbellsville, Mary Lynn Skaggs of Grayson County and William Broyles and wife, Angie of Lebanon; two step-grandchildren:  Brock Murphy and Rayven Murphy of Olive Hill; five great-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Frances Elizabeth Pyles and three brothers and three sisters:  William Ware, James Ware, Lennie Ware, Ruth Bradshaw Shope, Ivy Goff and Elizabeth Stone.

Dalice “Bit” Charlene Skaggs of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Woodruff Hearon and Flora Rucker Hearon, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, January 12, 1934.  She died at 1:18 A.M., Monday, October 24, 2011 in Louisville.    Age:  77

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Roberts Baptist Church.

She united in marriage to James W. Skaggs December 23, 1950.  He preceded her in death June 1, 1989.

She is survived by two daughters:  Deborah Mardis and husband, Terry and Jamia Skaggs of Campbellsville; two grandsons:  William Brian Mardis and wife, Dawn and Michael Edward Mardis and wife, Lisa of Campbellsville; five great-grandsons: Austin Blake Mardis, Nathaniel Cole Mardis, Noah Ethan Mardis, William Andrew Mardis, and Joshua Luke Mardis of Campbellsville; two
sisters-in-law Aileen Skaggs and Edith Underwood of Campbellsville;  several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters: Charles Hearon, Garland Hearon, Woodruff Hearon Jr., Bobby Hearon, Mabel Smith, Ruth Rucker, Flora Stayton, and Mary St. Clair.

Chester Gordon VanDyke

Chester Gordon VanDyke of Campbellsville, son of the late Chester VanDyke and Lottie Cox VanDyke, was born in Marion County, Kentucky, May 30, 1926.
He died at 7:40 P.M., Sunday, October 23, 2011 in Campbellsville.    Age:  85

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He was a farmer, former owner and operator of VanDyke Oil Company and a layman pastor for Old Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over thirty-three years.

He united in marriage to Helen Netherland October 12, 1941.

Besides his wife, Helen VanDyke, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ike and Laurie VanDyke of Campbellsville; son-in-law, Quilley McDonald of
Campbellsville; two grandsons:  Gregory McDonald and wife, Shannon of Campbellsville and DeWayne McDonald and wife, Angela of Lebanon; six great-grandchildren: Jasmine McDonald, D. J. McDonald, Austin Adams and Erin McDonald of Campbellsville and Tyler McDonald and Madison McDonald of Lebanon; two sisters:  Dorothy Barnett of Campbellsville and Louise White and husband, Harold of Rising Sun, Indiana; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanell McDonald November 7, 2006 and a sister, Ruth VanDyke.

Bobby Ray Gupton

Bobby Ray Gupton, age 65, died Sunday, October 23,  2011 at his residence after an illness.

  He was the son of the late Ossian C. Gupton  and  Gertrude Grant Gupton Tupman, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Georgia Beard, Arbell Hall and Lola Mae Gupton.

 He was the co-founder of Bridge to Faith Motorcycle Club.  He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and a self-employed mechanic.

 He is survived by his children ,Tommy & Mary Ann Durham, April Gupton & Rik Miles,Bobbie Kaye & Mike Holmes, his significant other, Bonita (Bonnie) Hardinall of Campbellsville, special children, Marilyn Rayna Landis & special friend, Mark Wright, of Campbellsville , Derrick Kerr, Jessica Hunt, Dustin  Kerr , all of Leitchfield, seventeen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Ronnie Allen of Campbellsville.

 Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in Saloma Cemetery.  Visitation after 5PM, Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home.

Beatrice Wise Elsbury of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Ernest Gill and Lizzie Sapp Gill, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, February 4, 1919.
She died at 6:55 P.M., Monday, October 17, 2011 in Campbellsville.   Age:  92

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Mannsville Christian Church.

She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

She united in marriage to Ed Wise October 9, 1943.  He preceded her in death May 23, 1987.

She united in marriage to Lawrence E. Elsbury December 10, 1993.  He preceded her in death August 19, 2003.

She is survived by one son and two daughters: Roger Wise and Sherry Shively and husband, Paul of Campbellsville and Jo Ann Ewing and husband, Larry of Dry Ridge; one step-son, Jim Elsbury of Wisconsin; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; twenty great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sons:  Buddy Wise September 28, 1990 and Donald Edward Wise December 20, 1990 and a brother, Troy Gill.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She united in marriage to Harvey R. Gore June 23, 1945.  He preceded her in death September 9, 2005.

She is survived by one son, Dr. David Ray Gore of Lexington and several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by one son, Michael Harvey Gore August 23, 1969; one brother and one sister:  Albert Gardner and Irene Brooks.

She united in marriage to Edmond Bartley July 11, 1960.  He preceded her in death August 29, 1995.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter: Bart Bartley and his wife, Andrea and Tibby Durham and husband, Dr. Clint Durham of Campbellsville and Dr. Roger Brockman and wife, Dawn of Fishers, Indiana; nine grandchildren:  Kristen Caulk Brockman of Los Angeles, California, Victoria Cox of Lexington, Kelsi Brown, Jessica Brockman and Alex Brockman of Indiana, Eli Bartley, Addison Durham, Luke Durham and Callie Durham of Campbellsville; one great-grandson, Aiden Clark of Campbellsville; special friend, Susan Epperson of Elizabethtown; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Max Phillips March 4, 1945.
