J.T. Holmes

J.T. Holmes of Campbellsville, KY, the son of Glenn Holmes and Angie McAllister Holmes, was born October 21, 1996 in Campbellsville, KY and departed this life on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at his residence after his brave battle against cancer. He was 26 years of age.

He had previously been employed as a building engineer. He had a love for baseball, umpiring, and sports in general, collecting baseball cards, and spending time with his nieces and nephew.

Survivors include his parents: Glenn Holmes and Angie McAllister Holmes both of Campbellsville.

One brother and two sisters: Trista Wood and husband Cory of Campbellsville, Aaron Schwoebel and wife Sarah of Mt. Sterling, and Mariah Holmes of Campbellsville.

His Grandparents: Allen and Sandy Holmes and Steve and Anna McAllister all of Campbellsville, Janie Dial of Greensburg.

Three nieces and one nephew: Kyndall Wood, Rhilynn Wood, Kamryn Schwoebel, and Brantlee Wood.

He was preceded in death by one uncle Steven McAllister.

There will be a funeral service for J.T. Holmes on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Campbellsville High School Gymnasium with burial to follow in the Brookside Cemetery.

Bro. Dan Durham and Kirby Smith will officiate.

The family requests visitation on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Campbellsville High School Gymnasium.

Memorials are suggested to be donations to the funeral expense fund and may be made by clicking  “Donations” or may be dropped off at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home.

Serving as Pallbearers will be: Brennan Perkins, Justin Smith, Caleb Gupton, Taylor Burress, Dalton Hughes, Zach Durham, Grant Adams, Dominic Allen, Owen Weeks, and Trevon Haralson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the 2009 – 2015 Baseball teams and coaches of Campbellsville High School.

FLOYD C. THOMPSON OBITUARY

Floyd C. Thompson, 79, of Gallatin, Tennessee, formerly of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Marvin Thompson and Ruth Hash, was born June 14th, 1943, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, and departed this life on Thursday, March 23rd, 2023, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tennessee.

Floyd served in the United States Military. He worked for the Campbellsville Police Department, and he later retired from Verizon as a Warehouse Maintenance Technician. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching westerns, and swinging on the porch.

He professed faith in Christ and attended The Nashville Church.

Floyd united in marriage to Paulette Sapp on September 29th, 1962, who survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by:

One son: Terry Thompson and wife, Rhonda, of Hendersonville, Tennessee.

One daughter: Paula Rash and husband, Jesse, of Campbellsville.

Three grandchildren: Jessika Brock and husband, Mackenzie, of Campbellsville; Patrik Thompson and Kady Thompson, both of Hendersonville, TN.

One great-granddaughter: Abigail Smith of Campbellsville.

One brother: Donnie Thompson and wife, Stella, of Campbellsville.

Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by:

One brother: James Thompson.

Five sisters: Pauline Hedgespeth, Opal Miller, Judy Shuffett, Ann Strader, and Wanda Zane Thompson.

 

VISITATION:  Tuesday, March 28th, 2023, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm EST at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville.

Jerry D. Murphy of Decatur, Illinois, formerly of Campbellsville, son of Faye Murphy and the late Samuel E. Murphy, was born September 28, 1954. He died Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the age of 68.

Jerry is survived and missed by his loving mother, Faye Murphy. Forever loved and cherished by his sister, Julie Murphy (Mike Kovach) as well as many other extended family and friends will forever miss his incredible kindness and his beautiful soul.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Samuel E. Murphy and a brother, Edward Lee Murphy as well as his grandparents, and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Larry Alvin Bell

Larry Alvin Bell, of Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late Creed Alvin Bell and Myrtle Mae Warren Bell, was born August 25, 1950 in Larue County, KY and departed this life on Friday, March 24, 2023 at his residence. He was 72 years of age. He was a retired truck driver and farmer. He enjoyed restoring John Deere tractors, farming, working with his cattle, watching westerns, country music and spending time with his family. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Annette Morris Bell, One daughter and one son: Laree Antoinette Shively and husband Jansen, and Alan Bell and wife Melissa all of Campbellsville.

One brother: Gary Bell and wife Jeanie, and one brother-in-law: Thomas Jr. Morris all of Larue County.

Seven grandchildren: Jastyn Shively and companion Chloe Garrett, Jayvian Shively, Latavia Shively, MacKenzie Knight and companion Marcus Anderson, Lindsey Knight and companion Dawson Vaughn, Caleb Knight and companion Ellington Gowin, and Caiden Bell.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters: Roy Bell, Shirley Morris, Loyd Bell, Arvin Ray Bell and Dean Bell.

 

There will be a funeral service for Larry Bell on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at L.R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Mike Gribbins will officiate.

Nick Agee of Campbellsville, son of Tommy Agee and Donna Marie Gwinn Agee, was born April 11, 1988 in Taylor County.  He died at 7:15 P.M., Wednesday, March 22, 2023 in Campbellsville.    Age: 34

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Methodist faith.

Nick was a fun-loving person who enjoyed making everyone laugh.  He liked music and singing and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his parents, Tommy and Donna Agee; one brother, T. J. Agee and wife, Pam; grandmother, Judy Gwinn, all of Campbellsville; two nephews and one niece:  Jason Agee, Cody Agee and Destiny Agee; aunts and uncles:  Paul and Kay Agee, Lora Beth and Todd Bland and Allan and Carol Gwinn; several cousins and many other relatives and friends.

Nick was also preceded in death by grandparents; Kenneth Gwinn, Mary Ann Richerson, William Richerson and Kenneth Agee and an uncle, Bryan Agee.

Xander “Marty” Hopper

Xander “Marty” Hopper, of Campbellsville, the son of Amanda Hopper and the late Timothy Hopper, was born May 9, 2006 in Florida and departed this life on Monday, March 20, 2023 in Campbellsville at the Taylor Regional Hospital. He was 16 years of age.

He was a student at the Campbellsville High School. He enjoyed playing dungeons and dragons, talking to family and friends online, board games and cards of all kind and was a sharp minded young man.

Survivors include his mother and step-father: Amanda (Etzweiler) Hopper and Daniel “Papas” Gonzalez; his grandmother: Sharon Etzweiler; his siblings: Ashana Etzweiler, Trystan Hopper and Harlen Etzweiler and a host of other relatives and friends.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a brother: Atreyu Jones.

The funeral service for Xander “Marty” Hopper will be Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home with cremation to follow.

 Bro. Freddy Thompson will be officiating.

Jeremy Wayne Holstin

Jeremy Wayne Holstin, of Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late Ronnie Holstin and Sue McCubbin York, was born July 29, 1972 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Monday, March 20, 2023. He was 50 years of age.  He was a former gutter installer. He enjoyed fishing, camping, grilling, gardening and spending time with family and friends and especially taking his kids trick or treating. He attended the Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church

Survivors include his wife: Mary Katlyn Underwood Holstin of Campbellsville, One daughter: Cieara Blakeman of Campbellsville, His mother Sue York and husband Gary of Campbellsville, One brother and one sister: James Leslie Whitehead and Shanna Edwards and husband Andrew all of Campbellsville and one expectant grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews, his dog: Arnold, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister: Alisha Holstin Sanders and Ricky Dale Holstin, and His Step-Mother, Eva Holstin.

The family has chosen cremation and all services will be held privately.

Ailene Whitlock, of Finley, KY, the daughter of the late Alfred Clever Moore and Virgie Elizabeth McCarty Moore, was born August 5, 1954 in Marion County, KY and departed this life on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at her residence. She was 68 years of age. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son: Lonnie Whitlock and wife Rebecca of Marion County, One grandson: Tristan Dale Whitlock of Raywick, KY.

Three brothers and two sisters:  Junior Moore and wife Mildred, Paul Moore and wife Mary Ann, Robert Moore, Joyce Porter and Sue Cox.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Nelson and Theresa Hardin.

 

There will be a graveside service for Ailene Whitlock on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Benningfield Cemetery in Marion County. Bro. Freddy Thompson will officiate.

Linda Burris

Linda Kay Burris, of Campbellsville, the daughter of the late Arle Mardis and Naomi Ann Short Mardis, was born April 26, 1948 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Monday, March 13, 2023 at her residence. She was 74 years of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith.

She was a homemaker and a former employee of Fruit of The Loom. She loved reading, watching television, cooking, and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include: two daughters and two sons: Tammy Burris, Regina Burris, Scott Allen Burris and Tracy William Burris all of Campbellsville.

Two brothers: Doyle Mardis and wife Lavon of Indiana and Roy Mardis and wife Anita of Campbellsville.

Fourteen grandchildren and thirty two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by sister: Cordie Mardis Hedgespeth

Martha Burress Harding

Martha Burress Harding of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Robert T. Gaddie and Elsie Reynolds Gaddie, was born in Taylor County and died at 4:45 A.M., Tuesday, March 14, 2023 in Campbellsville.

She professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Audubon Baptist Church in Louisville.

Martha loved her work and was a life-time member of Louisville Board of Realtors.  She was a successful real estate investor for over fifty years and was also an FHA and VA appraiser and served on the Jefferson County Tax Assessment Board.

She united in marriage to Fuller Harding August 23, 2008 and he preceded her in death January 10, 2010.

Martha is survived by a brother, Bob Gaddie of Campbellsville and was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ann Fuller.  She is also survived by two daughters:  Elizabeth Tillotson and husband, Nathan of Washington State and Rosalind Tender and husband, John W. of Lexington; four grandchildren:  John R. Tender of Florida, Katherine Tillotson of Louisiana, Victoria Alvarez and husband, Emmanuel of Oklahoma and Rebekah Yelton of Washington State; one great-grandson, Victor Alvarez; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
