Willard Martin of Campbellsville, son of the late Alfonso Martin and Virginia Finn Martin, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky on September 10, 1940.  He died at 1:54 P.M., Tuesday, April 4, 2023 in Campbellsville.    Age:  82

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Green River Memorial Baptist Church.

Willard was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and a former heavy equipment owner and operator and loved spending time with his horses.

He united in marriage to Ina Clark January 11, 1958.

Besides his wife, Ina Martin of Campbellsville, he is survived by one daughter and one son:  Lisa Dial of Campbellsville and Gary Martin and wife, Jan of Alexandria, Kentucky; three grandsons:  Jacob Dial, Daniel Martin and Timothy Martin; one expected great-grandchild; five sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Willard was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister:  Gaylord Martin and Frances Gray.

Steve Clark of Campbellsville, son of the late Frank Clark and Orvella Bloyd Clark, was born in Green County, Kentucky on September 23, 1948.  He died at 4:15 P.M., Monday, April 3, 2023 in Campbellsville.    Age:  74

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Broadway Church of Christ.

Steve was a retired schoolteacher and beloved coach with the Taylor County Board of Education.

He united in marriage to Peggy Perkins August 7, 1970 and she preceded him in death February 9, 2018.

He is survived by two daughters:  Kristi Clark and Heather Durham of Campbellsville; three grandchildren:  Jordan Hinton and wife, Shelby, Blake Clark and wife, Breanna and Isaiah Durham; two great-grandchildren:  Hadleigh Mae Hinton and Emberly Rose Clark; one sister, Rita Diane Cary and husband, Willie of Greensburg; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Marvin Glidewell

Marvin Glidewell, 89 passed away in Campbellsville on Monday, April 3, 2023.  He was born on October 4th, 1933 in Campbellsville, Kentucky to Porter & Maude (Owens) Glidewell.  A lifelong farmer in Taylor County, he was also a skilled printing press operator in his earlier years.  Along with farming, he enjoyed watching college basketball (especially when Kentucky was playing) and spending time with his family.

He was married to Patsy (Durham) Glidewell and had one son, Chris (Vickie) Glidewell of Campbellsville, one grandson, MacKenzie (Neha) Glidewell of Asheville, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Lura Glidewell of Campbellsville and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters:  Earl Glidewell, Russell Glidewell, Kimble Glidewell, Clarence Glidewell, Margaret Pike, Hazel Bozmer, Jewell Davis, Ruby Blaydes, and Pearl Palmetier.

He professed his faith in Christ and was a member of God’s Grace Church in Campbellsville.

A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. and officiated by Pastor Trey Strange with burial in Brookside Cemetery.

Mary Lou Corbin, of Campbellsville, the daughter of the late Charlie and Ida Logan (Wright) Hedgespeth, was born September 8, 1940 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at her residence. She was 82 years of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Green River Memorial Baptist Church, a homemaker and enjoyed quilting.

She united in marriage to Norman Richard Corbin, who preceded her in death on November 5, 2021.

Survivors include two children: Richard Allen Corbin and Sharon Robertson and husband Gary all of Campbellsville; a sister: JoAnn Roberts of Fairborn, Ohio; two grandchildren: Brandon Scott Keifer and Abby Pedigo; three great-grandchildren: Lila Regan Keifer and Adalyn and Ansley Pedigo and a host of other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother: Edith Warren, Jean Davis and Charles Hedgespeth, Jr.

The funeral service for Mary Lou Corbin will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Brookside Cemetery.

 Family requests visitation on Wednesday after 10:00 A.M. until time for service.

Mrs. Martha L. (Rakes) McFarland of Liberty passed from this life on Friday, March 31, 2023 at her residence. Born in Marion County, KY on September 15, 1954 to the late Dennis and Nellie (Garrett) Rakes, she was 68 years of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a wife, mother, and grandmother, and was known as an encouragement to her family.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a husband: Jeffrey McFarland; two sons: James Mason, Sr. and Jimmy Mason; and seven siblings: Carolyn Roller, Linda Hicks, Richard Rakes, George Rakes, Gene Rakes, Randy Rakes, and Helena Rafferty.

She leaves to cherish her memory:

Six grandchildren: James Mason, Jr., and wife Kimberly, Levi Mason, Landon Crews and companion Kassidy, Dalton Robertson, Autumn Wooley and companion Bryson, and Gabby Riggs and husband Clayton,

Her father-in-law: Frank McFarland,

A close friend: Virginia McFarland,

Six great-grandchildren,

And a host of extended family members and friends.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. McFarland on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Whited Cemetery in Casey County.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM until time for the service.

Emma J Mast, 76, 932 Redhawk Lane Campbellsville, KY, died March 28, 2023 of ALS, at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, where she was being cared for.

She was born on November 29, 1946 at Dover, Delaware, a daughter of the late John and Lydia (Nissley) Mast.

Emma is survived by three sisters: Elizabeth Ann (Levi) Troyer of Marlette, Michigan, Lydia (Alvin) Mast of Fremont, Michigan, and Vernie Mast of Marlette, Michigan. Also two brothers, John Henry (Anna) Mast of Campbellsville, Kentucky, David (Barbara) Mast of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, and one brother-in-law: David Swarey of Campbellsville, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by Parents, one brother, Eli, two sisters, Ella and Rosie. Also one brother-in-law, Noah Troyer and one sister-in-law, Sadie Mast.

There will be a funeral service for Emma J. Mast on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 1725 Bradfordsville Road Campbellsville, KY at 9:30 A.M. EST. with burial to follow in the Mannsville Amish Cemetery. Minister Leroy Yoder will officiate.

Robert “Bobby” Cave Jr.

Robert “Bobby” Cave Jr. of Campbellsville, KY, the son of Robert Wade Cave and Ina Jewell Knifley Cave, was born May 8, 1945 in Campbellsville, KY and departed this life on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was 77 years of age.

He had professed faith in Christ and was a faithful member of the South Campbellsville Baptist Church. He was retired from Parker-Kalon where he worked as a Tool-Maker. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, being around farm animals and talking with his many friends.

He is survived by his wife Gloria Ann Allen Cave, having united in marriage on May 27, 1967. One son and one daughter: Kevin Wade Cave and wife Lisa, and Cecilia Cave all of Campbellsville.

Two grandchildren: Justin Wade Cave of Campbellsville and Lydia Ann Cave Grant and husband Lonnie of Columbia, KY.

One brother: Kenneth Newcomb and wife Shirley of Campbellsville, KY

He was preceded in death by one sister: Imogene Benningfield.

There will be a funeral service for Robert “Bobby” Cave Jr. on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at L.R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel, 1765 New Columbia Rd. Campbellsville, KY with burial to follow in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

J.T. Holmes

J.T. Holmes of Campbellsville, KY, the son of Glenn Holmes and Angie McAllister Holmes, was born October 21, 1996 in Campbellsville, KY and departed this life on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at his residence after his brave battle against cancer. He was 26 years of age.

He had previously been employed as a building engineer. He had a love for baseball, umpiring, and sports in general, collecting baseball cards, and spending time with his nieces and nephew.

Survivors include his parents: Glenn Holmes and Angie McAllister Holmes both of Campbellsville.

One brother and two sisters: Trista Wood and husband Cory of Campbellsville, Aaron Schwoebel and wife Sarah of Mt. Sterling, and Mariah Holmes of Campbellsville.

His Grandparents: Allen and Sandy Holmes and Steve and Anna McAllister all of Campbellsville, Janie Dial of Greensburg.

Three nieces and one nephew: Kyndall Wood, Rhilynn Wood, Kamryn Schwoebel, and Brantlee Wood.

He was preceded in death by one uncle Steven McAllister.

There will be a funeral service for J.T. Holmes on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Campbellsville High School Gymnasium with burial to follow in the Brookside Cemetery.

Bro. Dan Durham and Kirby Smith will officiate.

The family requests visitation on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Campbellsville High School Gymnasium.

FLOYD C. THOMPSON OBITUARY

Floyd C. Thompson, 79, of Gallatin, Tennessee, formerly of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Marvin Thompson and Ruth Hash, was born June 14th, 1943, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, and departed this life on Thursday, March 23rd, 2023, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tennessee.

Floyd served in the United States Military. He worked for the Campbellsville Police Department, and he later retired from Verizon as a Warehouse Maintenance Technician. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching westerns, and swinging on the porch.

He professed faith in Christ and attended The Nashville Church.

Floyd united in marriage to Paulette Sapp on September 29th, 1962, who survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by:

One son: Terry Thompson and wife, Rhonda, of Hendersonville, Tennessee.

One daughter: Paula Rash and husband, Jesse, of Campbellsville.

Three grandchildren: Jessika Brock and husband, Mackenzie, of Campbellsville; Patrik Thompson and Kady Thompson, both of Hendersonville, TN.

One great-granddaughter: Abigail Smith of Campbellsville.

One brother: Donnie Thompson and wife, Stella, of Campbellsville.

Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by:

One brother: James Thompson.

Five sisters: Pauline Hedgespeth, Opal Miller, Judy Shuffett, Ann Strader, and Wanda Zane Thompson.

Jerry D. Murphy of Decatur, Illinois, formerly of Campbellsville, son of Faye Murphy and the late Samuel E. Murphy, was born September 28, 1954. He died Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the age of 68.

Jerry is survived and missed by his loving mother, Faye Murphy. Forever loved and cherished by his sister, Julie Murphy (Mike Kovach) as well as many other extended family and friends will forever miss his incredible kindness and his beautiful soul.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Samuel E. Murphy and a brother, Edward Lee Murphy as well as his grandparents, and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
