Joyce Walker, 79

Joyce Walker, of Knifley, the daughter of the late George Ford and Carrie (Shaw) Kavich, was born June 23, 1943 in Louisville, KY and departed this life Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in Louisville at the Norton Hosparus Inpatient Center. She was 79 years of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Knifley Christian Church.

Joyce enjoyed collecting dolls, crafting, loved jewelry and shopping.

She united in marriage to Franklin Roosevelt Walker, who preceded him in death in 2017.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in deth by a brother: Buddy Kavich.

Survivors include four children: Angela Hoke and companion Walter Brangers, Pamela Wilkerson and husband Brad Cook, Robin Piercy and husband David and Rusty Walker and wife Linda.

Also two sisters: Cathy Young and husband Gary and Sandy Hatfield; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and special friend: Jessie Nunez.

The funeral service for Joyce Walker will be Monday, February 20, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Bro. Hugh Withers will be officiating.

Billy ‘Wally” Ellis, 45

Mr. Billy Wallace “Wally” Ellis, Jr. of Buffalo, age 45, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the Baptist Health Hardin Hospital in Elizabethtown. Son of Lucille (Benningfield) and the late Billy Wallace Ellis, Sr., he was born in Marion County on June 21, 1977, and was of the Christian faith. He loved to work and was a talented welder. He enjoyed spending his free time outside, usually hunting or fishing.

He leaves to mourn his passing:

Two sons: Daniel Ellis and companion Jasmin Shawler of Liberty, and Rowdy Ellis of Campbellsville,

His mother: Lucille Ellis of Lebanon,

A sister: Lou Jean Hasty and husband George of Lebanon,

One grandchild: Carson Shawler,

And a host of extended family members and friends.

There will be a memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Ellis on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday after 12:00 PM until time for the service.

Lois Ann Walters Richardson

Lois Ann Walters Richardson of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Albert Walters and Lucy Garnett Walters, was born March 20, 1943 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She went home to be with her heavenly father Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in Louisville.

She professed faith in Christ and was a lifelong member of Early’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Lois was a retired employee of Kroger in Campbellsville.  However, her self-professed purpose in life was to be a great mother and, in that role (and all the other family roles she held),she so effortlessly exceled as she was truly a goodhearted person with limitless love for her family. Patience, joy, and kindness were hallmarks of her character and her nonjudgmental inclination always allowed her to see the best in people.  Her fun-loving personality and adventurous spirit deepened family relationships and attracted many meaningful friendships over the course of her life.  She is loved and will be tremendously missed by all those who had the honor to know her because she unselfishly loved and cared for all those that she knew.

She united in marriage to William Warren Richardson, who preceded her in death in 2012.

She is survived by three lucky sons: Terry Richardson (and Alan) of Prospect, Jeff Richardson (and Marlene) and Dusty Richardson (and Liz) of Campbellsville; four grandchildren: Bryce Richardson of Pensacola, Florida, Owsley Richardson, and Logan Smith (and Cole) of Campbellsville and Loren Smith-Mattingly (and David) of Lebanon; five great-grandchildren:  Oaks Mattingly, Oli Mattingly and Gus Mattingly of Lebanon and Barrett Smith and Ada James Smith of Campbellsville and several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters and their spouses: Herbert Walters, Bill Walters, David Walters, Edith Lawson, Virginia Shively and Barbara Pike and several nieces and nephews.

Ayleen Williams of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Leslie Phillips and Myrtle Keltner Phillips, was born September 2, 1927 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  She died at 10:52 P.M., Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in Campbellsville.   Age: 95

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First Methodist Church.

Ayleen was a retired food service employee with the Taylor County School System for thirty years.

She united in marriage to Kenneth Williams August 6, 1947 and he preceded her in death December 25, 1995.

She loved flowers and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ayleen is survived by one son and one daughter:  Tony Williams and Elaine Caffee and husband, Don of Campbellsville; two granddaughters:  Donna Sallee and husband, Charlie of Campbellsville and Erin Ballou and husband, Brian of Bowling Green; two great-grandchildren:  Ava Sweet and Caroline Sallee; one step-great-grandson, Dalton Sallee; one sister-in-law, Pauline Williams of Campbellsville; special friend, Betty Johns of Smiths Grove; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Ayleen was preceded in death by a son, John Richard Williams September 21, 2019 and a brother, Wallace H. Phillis August 14, 2016.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Bluegrass Way Family for the love they gave their mother during her two and half years’ stay there.

William “Kent” Bryant of Campbellsville, son of the late William Wesley Bryant and Margaret Jewel Cave Bryant, was born September 14, 1955 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  He died at 6:15 A.M., Tuesday, February 14, 2023 in Campbellsville.   Age:  67

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Robinson Creek Baptist Church.

Kent was a former truck driver with the Kentucky State Highway Department and had also worked at Fruit of the Loom.  He was a hard worker and had farmed most of his life.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robby and Wendy Bryant of Campbellsville; two grandchildren:  William Evan Bryant and Morgan Nicole Wood and husband, Cody of Campbellsville; one expectant great-grandchild; one sister-in-law, Peggy Bryant of Campbellsville; two nephews and one niece:  Barry Bryant, Wesley Bryant and Hope Hill and many other relatives and friends.

Kent was also preceded in death by a brother, James Curtis “Jack” Bryant.

Betty Jo Cox

Mrs. Betty Jo Cox of Campbellsville was born in Taylor County, KY on September 30, 1940, to the late Paul Parker and Fannie Willis Parker. She departed this life on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Grandview Nursing and Rehab, being 82 years of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Cox was retired from the Fruit of the Loom Company. She leaves to cherish her memory:

Two brothers and three sisters: Sue Munday, Peggy Hatcher, Jackie Parker and wife Abby, Jerry Parker and wife Sandra and Kaye Robison. One son-in law: Ricky Barnes.

Three grandchildren: Chris Davis and wife Leslie, Joseph Davis and wife Aubrey, and Tyler Barnes.

Six great-grandchildren: Parker Davis, Pace Davis, Paxton Davis, Beau Davis, Jasper Barnes, and Tyson Barnes, and a host of other family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth M. Cox, and two daughters: Debbie Davis (Jerry) and Libby Barnes. One brother: Jimmy Ray Parker

There will be a graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Betty Jo Cox on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Green River Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery, Campbellsville, KY.

Family and Friends will officiate.

Helen Sharpe of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Ras Manford Rainwater and Lillian Elizabeth Ford Rainwater, was born August 24, 1930 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  She died at 11:55 P.M., Sunday, February 12, 2023 in Campbellsville.  Age: 92

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Robinson Creek Baptist Church but had most recently been attending Salem Baptist Church.

She united in marriage to Cecil Sharpe May 26, 1951 and he preceded her in death October 5, 2013.

Helen loved being on the farm and cooking for her family.  She enjoyed spending time with her family.  She never took a vacation, always putting family and the farm first.

She is survived by one daughter and one son:  Diane Hunt and husband, Stewart of Campbellsville and Gary Wayne Sharpe and wife, Sharon of Lexington; four grandchildren:  Brian Sharpe and wife, Leah of Versailles, Melissa Kleinsasser and huband, Kris of Greenville, South Carolina, Jessica Squires and husband, Billy of Greensburg and Jonathan Hunt and wife, Allison of Versailles; nine great-grandchildren:  Norah Bennett Sharpe, McKenna Rae Kleinsasser, Madisyn Kae Kleinsasser, Meghan Elizabeth Squires, Katelynn Savannah Squires, Brinley Hope Squires, Olivia Grace Hunt, Graham Ellis Hunt and Claire Emerson Hunt; one brother and two sisters:  Billy Rainwater and wife, Bernice, Barbara Skaggs and husband, Donald and Lula Mae Bell of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters:  Ernest Rainwater, J. D. Rainwater, Gordon Rainwater, Kenneth Rainwater, Madeline Cave and Roselyn Sprowles.

Carol Ann Hernandez, of Campbellsville, the daughter of the late George and Marie (Paladino) Schonmann, was born July 17, 1962 in Queens, New York and departed this life on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at her home. She was 60 years of age.

She was a former cook at the Creekside Restaurant in Campbellsville and enjoyed crafting.

Survivors include her children: Stephanie Wisniewski Guerrero and husband Juan, Elena Bellamy and Robert Hernandez and companion: Dana Hicks, all of Campbellsville.

Also surviving is a sister and brother: Georgette Diesso of Flordia and Gary Schonmann and wife Joyce of New York; twelve grandchildren: Domonique Wisniewski, Elisa Perez, Danny Figueroa, Jr., Robert Figueroa, Kyasia Hernandez, Taliyah Higgins, Jalin Dennis, Frank Bellamy III, Ziair Conner, Kailei Hernandez, Ava Fields and Keeli Raikes; great-grandchild: Zay’Eion; nieces: Nicole Souto, Kristy Souto and Michelle Diesso.

The family chose cremation

Final resting place will be in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Jennifer Lynn “Jenny” Hoots, of Somerset, the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Betty Ruth (Griffith) Lindsay, was born May 25, 1977 in Oneida, Tennessee and passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023 in Somerset at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was 45 years of age.

She was a certified nursing assistant and was of the Baptist faith.

She was a cat and dog lover, enjoyed fishing and drawing, her favorite artwork was bears.

Survivors include her husband: Jeff Hoots of Somerset; a son: Matthew Hunter Stewart of Tennessee; step-children: Cheyenne Hoots of Campbellsville and Chelsae Bohl and husband Daniel of Flemingsburg; a brother: Charlie Lindsay and wife Linda of Robbins, Tennessee; a sister: Shirley Edens and husband Ora “Pop” of Radcliff.

Also two step-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorial service for Jennifer “Jenny” Hoots will be Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home.
