Rosa Skaggs of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Daisy Berry Richardson and Elmer Elder Richardson, was born December 20, 1932, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 9:26 A.M., Sunday, January 23, 2022 in Campbellsville. Age: 89
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Rosa was a retired real estate broker and owner and operator of Rosa Skaggs Realty. She enjoyed gardening and her yard was more like a beautiful park with its own water feature. The time she spent tending to her flower gardens was evident everywhere you looked.
Rosa united in marriage to Otha Barbee Skaggs June 2, 1951 and he preceded her in death on January 21, 2018.
She is survived by one son and two daughters: Steve Skaggs and wife, Karen, Sharon Wood and husband, George and Debbie Skaggs of Campbellsville; three grandchildren: Tim Wood and wife, Sarah, Jessica Lawson and husband, Jeremy, and Kelly Lobb Harris and husband, James, Jr.; three great-grandchildren: Alexia Lobb, Ashley Wilhoit and Samantha Wilhoit; two brothers: Charles Richardson and wife, Phyllis of Campbellsville and Jimmy Richardson and wife, Carlotta of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Rosa was also preceded in death by her brother, Joe Richardson.

Alvin Shofner, 87

Alvin Theodore Shofner, the son of the late Johnny and Estelle (Eddington) Shofner, was born Ocotber 5, 1935 in Larue County, KY and departed this life on Sunday, January 23, 2022 in Greensburg at his home. He was 87 years of age.

He was a bricklayer and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and riding horses and spent many years farming.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Shofner; three sons and a daughter: Ronald, Mark and Wendell Shofner and Rita Gribbins; a sister: Bernette Thompson.

He is survived by eight children: Christopher Schultise of Lebanon, Donald Shofner and companion Lisa McGuffin of Campbellsville, Scott Shofner and wife Angela of Summersville, Alvin Shofner of Bardstown, Diane McDonald and husband George of Campbellsville, Theresa Goldsmith and husband Danny of Shepherdsville, Linda Smith and companion William Underwood of Greensburg, and Karen Montgomery and husband James of Campbellsville; a sister: Doris Karnes of Campbellsville; thirty-three grandchildren; eighty great-grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Alvin Theodore Shofner will be Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at the Feathersburg Church of God on Speck Ridge Road with burial to follow in the Callahan Cemetery.

Bro. Charlie Warren will be officiating.

Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and after 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church.

Elmer “Buck” Lowery, 80

Mr. Elmer H. “Buck” Lowery of Green County was born on August 18, 1941 in Bradfordsville to the late Wesley and Kitty Belle (Russell) Lowery. He departed this life on January 23, 2022 in Green County, having attained the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 5 days.
Buck professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Union Separate Baptist Church. He retired from Fruit of the Loom after thirty-plus years of service. He loved to spend his free time fishing and being with his grandkids.
He leaves to cherish his memory:
Five children: Mark Kessinger and wife Renee of Campbellsville, Chris Lowery and fiancee Shellvonia of Campbellsville, Debbie Henderson and husband Billy of Greensburg, Leon Kessinger and wife Joan of Hodgenville, and Ricky Kessinger and wife Mary of Hodgenville,
Ten grandchildren: Ashley Kessinger, Mark Kessinger, Logan Kessinger, Mariah Lowery, Whitney Kessinger, Emily Kessinger, Wesley Kessinger, Allison Kessinger, Ashley Davis, and Tiffany Cornish,

He was also preceded in death by Virginia Lowery, and three sisters and four brothers.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Elmer “Buck” Lowery on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM EST (10:00 AM CST) in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Interment will follow in the Union Separate Baptist Church Cemetery in Buffalo.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 26, from 5:00-8:00 PM EST (4:00-7:00 PM CST).

Gerri S. Akin of Greensburg, daughter of the late Lloyd Sowder and Edna Mae Bailey Plummer, was born December 15, 1942 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. She died at 11:55 P.M., Wednesday, January 19, 2022 in Greensburg. Age: 79

She was of the Catholic Faith. She united in marriage to Leonard Akin in December, 1963 and he preceded her in death November 8, 2008. Geraldine is survived by two sons and one daughter: Leonard Mark Akin and wife, Linda and Bernard Michael Akin and wife, Tamasina of Campbellsville and Mary Michelle Akin- Fisher and husband, Neil of Versailles; seven grandchildren: Austin Tyler Akin, Jace Sabe Matthew Akin, Hanna Miles and husband, Andrew, Luke Akin, Nadia Monk, John Bradley Ledford and Leonard Douglas Ledford; one great-granddaughter, DeAmora McAllister; three brothers and one sister: Ronald Singleton, Harold Singleton, Jay Singleton and Wanda Singleton Douglas; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Elsie Sue (Chandler) Bray of Columbia passed from this life on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Born on July 16, 1940 to the late Chib and Martha (Miller) Chandler, she was 81 years of age. She was a homemaker, and was of the Christian faith.
She leaves to carry her legacy:

Mrs. Brittany Nicole Chadwell, daughter of David Matthew Johnson, Sr. and Regina D. Burris, was born in Campbelsville on September 4, 1991. On January 19, 2022, at the age of 30 years, 4 months, and 15 days, she lost a hard-fought battle against cancer. She had lived her life on her own quiet, gentle terms, always polite and loyal, and rarely complaining about the hardships she suffered. Her genuine love for people gained her many a close friend, and she will be cherished by countless.

She leaves to mourn her passing:

Mrs. Martha Evelyn Bailey of Campbellsville passed from this life on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the Taylor Regional Hospital. Born on May 7, 1931 in Louisville to the late George and Elsie (Fine) Rigsby, she was 90 years, 8 months, and 11 days of age. She was a former employee of Fisher Packing Company and was a homemaker. Mrs. Bailey enjoyed living a simple life, and raised many a flower garden. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a charter member of Woodlawn Christian Church.
Mrs. Bailey was the widower of Mr. Harold Bailey. Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Glen Rigsby, and a grandson.
She leaves to cherish her memory:
Five children: Perry Rooker, Roger Rooker and wife Ina, Scott Rooker and wife Terry, Gary Rooker, and Becky Lentz and husband Richard,
Nineteen grandchildren,
Twenty-eight great-grandchildren,

Vincent Aubrey Smith of Campbellsville, the son of Mark Dewaine and Elizabeth “Liz” (Miller) Smith was born May 28, 1988 in Lexington, KY and departed this life on Thursday, January 13, 2022 in Calhoun, Georgia. He was 33 years of age.

He was a contract painter and member of the Robinson Creek Baptist Church.

Vincent enjoyed playing guitar, listening to music of all kinds, reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his parents Mark and Liz Smith of Campbellsville; a sister: Madelyne Elizabeth “Maddie” Smith of Atlanta; a brother: Sabin Jeremiah Thompson of Florida, a niece Breanna Elizabeth Thompson of Florence, Alabama; his grandfather: Doyle Smith of Louisville; his companion: Desiree Bunch of Lafayette, Indiana and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Vincent Aubrey Smith will be Sunday at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the L.R.Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Green River Memorial Cemetery.

Robert Barnett “Bob” Barnett, of Campbellsville, the son of the late Armond Wann and Patricia Mae (Vandvyne) Pierce, was born December 13, 1949 in Macon, Mississippi and departed this life on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 in Sarasota, Florida after and Illness while on vacation.

Bob had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church and was a retired employee of the United States Postal Service as a postmaster.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing golf, fishing and was a great grill cook.

He is survived by his wife: Kathy (Garner) Wann; four children: Cindy Holland, Christopher Wann, Amber Flinchum and husband Jordan and Krystal Eddleman and husband Shane; three brothers and two sisters: Arlan Craig Wann and wife Dana, Betty Hammett and husband Bill, William Grant “Bill” Wann, Steven Mark Wann and partner Zoubir and Susan Elaine Pierce; a step-sister and two step-brothers: Larry Pierce and wife Sue, Johnnie Pierce and wife Belinda and Ramona “Mona” Kirkland and husband Kim; a brother-in-law: Rev. Lanny Garner and wife Linda; a sister-in-law: Peggy A. Hayes and husband Tommy; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family has chosen cremation and a memorial service will be held at a later.

GARY KEITH HUGHES OBITUARY

Gary Keith Hughes, 70, of Elkhorn, Kentucky, son of the late Robert Hughes and Connie Victoria Elliot, was born August 26th, 1951, in Taylor County and departed this life on Monday, January 17th, 2022, in Lexington, Kentucky.

He united in marriage to Shirley Bault Hughes on June 19th, 1970, who survives.

He professed his faith in Christ and was of Baptist Faith. He attended Yuma Baptist Church and was a Chairman of Ushers for the church. Gary was drafted and served time during the Vietnam War for the Army. He enjoyed farming and was the owner and operator of Hughes Enterprises of trailers, parts, and sales. He loved all his family and friends dearly.

Gary is also survived by:

One daughter: Connie Newton and her husband, Michael, of Campbellsville.

Three grandchildren: Faith Newton, Baylee Newton, and Robert Newton of Campbellsville.

Three brothers: Wayne Hughes, and his wife, Gladys, of Casey County; Larry Hughes and his wife, Linda, of Knifley; Roger Hughes and his wife, Donna, of Campbellsville.

Two sisters: Mildred Druin of Campbellsville and Doris Reynolds of Campbellsville.

Besides his parents, Gary is preceded in death by:

Four sisters: Margret Hughes, Jewell Hughes, Shirley Hughes, and Barbara Henderson.

One brother: Orville Hughes.

VISITATION: Friday, January 21st, 2022, from 5pm-8pm EST at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville.

FUNERAL: Saturday, January 22nd, 2022, at 1pm EST at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville.
