Georgia Gupton Beard

Georgia Gupton Beard of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Ossian C. Gupton and Gertrude Gupton Tupman, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky,  March 15, 1930.  She died at 4:15 A.M., Thursday, September 29, 2011 in Campbellsville.    Age:  81

She professed faith in Christ and attended Asbury United Methodist Church.

She was a talented seamstress for over sixty years, having sewn for the Campbellsville community, Lincoln Jamboree, singers Brenda Lee and Eddie Miles and many others.  She also
made several wedding dresses and was voted the Taylor County Fourth of July “Best Seamstress of the Year”.  She had also been employed as a greeter at Wal Mart.

She was a member of the D.A.R, Taylor County Historical Society, an active genealogist, and co-author of “The Gupton Book”.

She united in marriage to Shelby Woodrum Beard November 9, 1946.  He preceded her in death December 4, 1988.

She is survived by five daughters and one son:  Carla Kendall, Wanda LeFande, Kelvin Beard and wife, Debbie, Margie Buckland and husband, Bill, Ruthetta Clark and husband, Ricky and Myra Gribbins and husband, Greg of Campbellsville; twenty grandchildren:  Shellie Kendall, James Kendall, III, Lee Kendall, Jeannie Clark, R. B. Herron, II, Ashley LeFande, Brittany Bright, Greg Beard, Anthony Beard, Michael Collings, Matthew Collings, Magel Collings, Mitch Collings, Julie Joseph, Neil Buckland, A. J. Clark, Travis Clark, Shelby Gribbins, Whitley Gribbins and Erica Gribbins; twenty-six great-grandchildren: Dalton Nunn, Jessica Nunn, Josh Kendall, Joe Kendall, Jonah Kendall, Hailey Kendall, Jesse Kendall, Valerie Michelle Pike, Leah Kendall, Gavin Kendall, Brooke Kendall, Christopher Clark, Samantha Clark, Sara Clark, Natalie Bright, Keely Bright, Bailee Beard, Landen Beard, Kyler Beard, Madison Beard, Shelby Beard, Elijah Collings, Joy Joseph, Grace Joseph, Aaron Clark and Lucas Gribbins; six great-great-grandchildren: Alexis Kendall, Chelsea Kendall, Noah Kendall, Isabella Kendall, Bentley Kendall and Noah Vail;
one brother and one sister:  Brenda Gupton Allen and husband, Ronnie and Bobby Ray Gupton of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters:  Arbell Hall and Lola Mae Gupton.

$5000 reward offered for information on the death of Adam Hogan

The Taylor County Sheriff’s Department in agreements with the surviving family and friends of the late Adam Hogan is offering a $5,000.00 (five-thousand) reward for any information leading up to the conclusion of this case. Any person(s) who has information regarding this incident please contact the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office at 270-465-4351. Recapping the incident; Adam Hogan was reported missing over 1 year ago on September 02, 2010, his remains were located over a month later on an area near his home. The cause of death is undetermined still, but foul play has not been ruled out.

Clara Burress Pickett

Clara Burress Pickett, of Georgetown, formerly of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Fred Burdick and Clara Smith Burdick, was born in Mingo County, West Virginia, July 12, 1920.   She
died at 3:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in Greensburg.  Age:  91

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Woodlawn Christian Church.

She was a retired secretary from Burkholder Insurance Company.

She united in marriage to William S. “Bill” Pickett August 19, 1959.   He preceded her in death June 19, 2009.

She is survived by thre nieces, Dr. Susan M. Burress and Wanda Lucas of Campbellsville and Marlene Blair of Paris, Kentucky and several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister:  Ralph D. Burress, James Burress and Floy Burkholder.
